Thank you so much hddeuce60! Worked perfect! Is there currently no way of doing this automatically as a startup script? Also, what situations on the droid will I really notice an improvement with compcache on as opposed to off? Thanks again.
I was using P3Droid's 250-1250 kernel with compcache enabled with no problems on UD 2.3. Started automatically and everything. When I went to 2.4 I couldn't get it to work no matter what combination of flashing and commands I used in Terminal.
I used root explorer to go to /system/lib/modules and deleted ramzswap.ko. Then I reflashed the ramzswap.zip file from P3Droid and voila! Everything works again. It autostarted the first time I booted up but every reboot since then I have had to "compcache start" it.
That's my experience, hope it helps. Haven't tried adding the auto start script in yet.
It's already in the 20userinit file though if you're on 2.3 2.4 or 2.5. I can't understand why it's not working. I'll just deal with having to manually start it all the time for now.

I originally only wanted it working because it kept my Launcher Pro from FC'ing every time I came out of sleep to read a handcent pop up. I increased my VM heap size instead and it seemed to be working fine without compcache.
