Complete Droid X .sbf Flashing Guide

Mader did you ever find out about using linux and the same commands to flash the d2? I've still been looking and haven't found that info yet. I don't want to screw up that phone if trying it the same as the DX wont work. Thanks for any info you got!

theres no reason (in my mind) that using the same commands wouldnt work for the D2 as long as u use the correct SBF.

DX and D2 are very similar

I have the correct sbf files for I believe 2.2.30. I was not smart before morphing some of the phones meters and didn't make a backup. I want to do that now so I can make sure that we always have one. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

The sbf_flash utility works fine on D2, just need to make sure you have the correct .sbf file... commands should be the same.

Edit: What Abe said! ;)

success story!

got droid x juli 15th 2010, got root early august with droid928 deodex blackglass. then the hype was the fly X. got that. themed with next theme...
ran ok for a while......and then started giving me some slllloooowwwwnessss issues. lots of lagging during game play, addy list wouldnt load etc. (mind you, i got tons of apps though...anyway
got back to this site and voila.....fly x trun out to be legacy, yay.

so in order to get anywhere i restored an old rom with rom manager, but seemed to have deleted at an earlier time the stock restore point yay again. so got stuck in bootloader with blackglass and ran into this bitty premium tutorial and got the isht back on track...thanks!

gonna get me some gummyjar now!

I am attempting to set up a file on my pc for sbf just incase:icon_ banana:I were to make a paperweight out of my X. I have yet to have to get into the bootloader screen to find out what bootloader I am on. I have the OTA .340. I am currently rooted running a blurred Darkslide. If I get into the bootloader to find out which sbf I need how do I get out of it and second will it bomb my current ROM or is it as simple as a re-boot?

Thanks!

Nah, getting into the bootloader doesn't do anything; it just interrupts the boot cycle. Now, if you get STUCK in the bootloader then ALL software on the phone (not the SD card) is gone and you're pretty boomed.

I'm currently on 2.3.340 using fission and looking to try out Tranq. Before I venture into that, I want to make sure I know which SBFs I should be using in case of a brick.

If i wanted to completely clean everything out back to stock, do I need to flash the full 2.3.320 then the system only 2.3.340? Or can I just flash the system only 2.3.340 with a wipe data/cache a few times?

When reading through all these threads, I information for both, so I'm not quite sure. :icon_eek:
