Complete Droid X .sbf Flashing Guide

Ok my bootloader is 30.03 so i downloaded the VRZ_MB810_2.3.15_ff_01.sbf and i've tried to sbf it a couple times and i either get a fail or I get stuck in a bootloop and can't get into the place to clear my cache and wipe data. Do you think I got a bad file?

If you got stuck in a bootloop, then it succeeded.

--Pull the battery.
--Hold the HOME button while putting the battery back in. It should start to boot. Hold HOME until you see the M logo.
--It should boot to the Android Recovery screen (lil droid with a ! in a triangle). When you see this screen, press the SEARCH button on the phone, which will take you to the Android Recovery Menu
--From the menu, wipe cache, wipe data, and reboot.
... then upgrade, root, bootstrap, and you're off!

ok, so what did i do wrong?

tim@tim-desktop:~/Documents$ chmod +x sbf_flash

not a problem! you also forgot a space after the './' and before the 'sudo', but who's counting? :p

edit: i mean after the sudo and before the ./ - jesus, I can't even think or type right now.

ok, so im done with that. and my phone is no longer rooted. but, i dont see the apps that i froze. i thought this would flash my device back to factory settings? all of my apps still show up.

it is factory settings. your apps redownloaded from the marketplace - you should notice the bloat has returned, unless titanium is set to auto-freeze the bloat, at which point they would be gone again.

but you're sbf'd hooray! it's done, linux ftw

ummmm, i dont think thats the case. as soon as my phone rebooted, all my apps were there. there was no downloading. also, my phone appears as if nothing else has happened. my launcher pro screen is the same as it was before. also, the only differences is that the phone is no longer rooted. it never returned to factory default.

system version reads 2.3.320

well. the sbf worked. your system and lack of root and probably bloatware confirms it. i dunno what you want me to tell you chief.

if you want to delete your apps, do a factory reset from the recovery menu.

All of that stuff is in the /data dir, so unless you wiped data/cache, it will be there, settings intact. :P

It's the /system dir you're worried about... as long as the .sbf reset your system, baseband, kernel, bootloader... you're in good shape.

ahhhhhh, correct, i didnt wipe the data. thanks for all the help guys.

yeah, def sbf again if you can get the battery charged. the problem might stem in the cable connection itself though, and the bootloader might not mount. that happened to mine and i had to call vzw

I ended up calling Verizon and they are shipping me a replacement for tomorrow delivery. dancedroid Lets see how long this phone will last. :)
