Cool uses for your Droid

coondogg97--How do you add contacts to a folder on home screen...thanks

You press and hold on the home screen, go to folders and then new folder. The you press and hold again on the home screen, go to shortcut and scroll down to contact. Now you have an empty folder and a shortcut to a contact on your homescreen. The last thing to do is click and hold on the contact and then drag and drop it in the folder.

Well it's my work phone, so besides the constant emailing, messaging etc, I use it for research (web) and as a navigation tool. So for me, the Droid is always handy.

I have a 3 month old daughter who was being fussy while we were out somewhere. I quickly went to amazon music and downloaded a childrens lullaby album and put it next to her with the volume low. It calmed her down, which calmed me and my wife down. Win!
Now if they could only come up with a diaper changing app. :icon_ banana:

They've got one, but it makes the buttons sticky.:icon_eek:

I use it all the time at work. I LOVE google maps on my droid, especially since they show both state road numbers and road names. That's important to me for work. Used the pinpoint application a couple days ago to email a map and my coordinates for the helicopter who was enroute to assist us...

In addition, I use it to text other co-workers on shift so that we can coordinate things we don't want to speak over the radio. I've made a bunch of spreadsheets with important information on them such as court dates etc. I can use it to look for warrants and all kinds of stuff. Use easymoney 1.2.3 to balance my bank accounts... Used Flixter a few times looking for the best theater to go to...Use weatherbug all the time...Used the camera a few times for evidence pictures...use it as my alarm clock, to browse facebook, to check account balances with my bank...

oh yeah, and to make and receive phone calls :)

^^^How in the heck do you do that?

I work at a place called ABC Warehouse which is similar to Best Buy but we only have 45 stores in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. I am paid hourly and on commission and the Droid has given me about a $50 a week raise... Anytime a customer is about to walk out to "look around" I take out my Droid, open Shop Saavy and scan the bar code on the product. Whatever the best "local" price is or any reasonable online price is, I beat. Generally I end up making some commission anyways and even if I don't, I get "spiffed" for beating deals from other places.

Talk about a phone paying for itself...

I demo'ed "Shazam" to my 10-year old with a song she was playing... After 10 seconds and the music name / album art resolved, I instantly became the coolest Dad on the block. :)

Just today I whipped out the Droid and scanned some barcodes at work (using Barcode Scanner). Needless to say, the coworkers, besides being impressed, were pretty bewildered that a phone camera can be used for that.

I've like droid for the number of news apps.....Google Finance, AP mobile, ZDNET news, news pro, CNET news, USA Today etc....im always on the go and sometime dont have time to check my RSS feeds on my laptop.

I know there is a RSS feed app but i like the above apps (personal preference)

I also like the geoquiz, which is an awwsome app for geography information.

I like the spark app.Hit the menu button and run in ghost mode. Looks like the device is on the home page. When someone touches the screen a spark appears and the device will vibrate. Catches people off guard and they think they are getting shocked so they let go real quick. Nice to keep people from messing with my droid.

Hope you have insurance!

looking fly at school...
lol i dont have one yet, but thats going to be my coolest use for sure
Hey, I got one for my nephew, he took it to school the next day. He came home with all kinds of stuff on it, and it was tricked out with everything working OK. He and his friends at school had done everything but a tear down on it. Verizon should give me some kind of discount or a new phone, I bet there will be a few more sold after these kids start playing more with it. The IPhone was sitting in the corner sulking.

My favorite use is making the 20+ iPhone users at my work salivate. Most of them have told me they are jealous of the Droid's features.
