[ROM] CyanogenMod 9 [BETA] (DX) (8/19)

I tried both of these multiples of times:
'gapps-ics-20120304-signed' & 'gapps-ics-20120317-signed'

My battery died during sbf before I could try the latest one I've downloaded, which is 'ICS_MOTO_4.0.4_GAPPS_03_13_2012'

I've gotta get to the Verizon Store before I can try the one with 'MOTO' in the name. Is this the one I've supposed to have been using?

My mind=:icon_ poke:

Yeah the MOTO gapps should work just fine.

ICS_MOTO_4.0.4_GAPPS_03_13_2012 is what I flashed and it worked fine first try.

Thanks fellas, you've given me hope :)

I'll let you guys know if it worked once I get sbf'd again.

Quick question though everyone: What version of Clockwork Mod are you guys running? I've got 2.5.x.x but I know theres a version 5.0.2.x out there,
however, I've had no success figuring out how to get that onto my phone either.

Sorry for these dumbed down things, I've been an iOS user since iOS came out and just recently jumped ship because I just adored my friends GNEX.

Pretty sure that tasty sandwich had a lot to do with it

.
That cwm is the version that you get when flash cwm recovery from rom manager or what you have after flashing cm9 or various other ROM's that have rom manager built in.

BAD ASS X

Thanks I'll get to it, I'm still on .340 running CM7 and the battery life is terrible. 4 hours and my battery is down to 17%. Hopefully going to GB will help fix this issue

If you decide not to run ICS at least install Liberty. It's ASOP GB (save for the Blur dialer and camera app) and the battery life is pretty fantastic. Probably my favorite rom for the DX.

It's what I've been running ever since I got the phone, only lasted about a week stock, tried almost every ROM at the time, except for Tranquility. Ever since I was on Liberty and updated it as new versions came out. Until GB came out, because tether is my only form of internet I didn't want to lose what I already had on .340. I have downloaded everything I need, the .605 SBF is being downloaded right now and I'll probably go to CM9 tonight. I was just waiting for the camera issue to be fixed.

Tethering works on the .605 Liberty, I use it all the time. I may actually restore my Liberty backup depending on how ICS treats me. It still seems a little too buggy for daily use, but I'm gonna ride it out for a little bit and see if it grows on me.

Does anybody else's Facebook app kinda suck on this rom? Sometimes I can't click on notifications and sometimes I can't upload photos. Could just be Facebook, you know how well their Android app is written.

I am unfortunately on the official .621 build (replacement phone from Verizon)... If I go through the Milestone workaround, and load up a .602 or .605 based rom can I flash this rom over top? Please tell me I can... haha.

OK, well I :
wiped dalvic cache, cache, wipe data
restored my nandroid backup for CM9 (as I was using gummy)
wiped dalvic cache, cache, but did NOT wipe data
installed the latest version of CM9

It was a long boot up, it displayed it was optimizing all my apps.
Then it boots up fully - looks like I can log in,
but within a few seconds it begins booting all over again.

.
It keeps doing this.

Howard.

P.S. I just now tried wiping data - it can boot properly now.

I forgot to reinstall the Gapps after installing the latest CM9.
I don't know if that will cause problems?

Unfortunately This happened to me as well. Had to wipe data and cache to fix it :/

nm... found my answer on rootzwiki....

for anyone else that wants to know:

After you're on 621 again, use the LINUX METHOD to flash 604. Afterwards, use the included zergrush root method to root the phone, install Droid2bootstrap, bootstrap recovery, then use Rom Manager to install the latest CWM for Droid X.

Make sure you have the CM9 zip on the SD card, click 'reboot into recovery' in Rom Manager, use the volume buttons to navigate to install from SD Card, choose the CM9 zip.

Or click 'install rom from SD' in Rom Manager, and select the zip. EITHER WAY YOU HAVE TO WIPE ALL USER DATA.

If you've never flashed a rom before, I would suggest doing some studying before getting into it... else you can really screw things up and have to start over.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to

EDIT: ...and then I saw your other post

Same issue with notifications. Haven't had any problems with pic uploads though. I think it is indeed facebook . Not the rom.

Okay, so it's not just me then. I can't click anything except people's profile pictures to go to their profile when I open up the notifications list in the Facebook app. It's kinda weak! The picture upload was probably just Facebook being Facebook, because I was able to upload a pic earlier no problem. No contact syncing is weak too, but I used Haxsync which works even better than the Facebook app did on 2.3 anyway so I'm cool there.
