DarkSlide V4.2 PLEASE READ!!! Need-to-know's and how to's

just an interesting question...i was on liberty 1.5 for a couple days just to try it out...but for some reason my phone stopped accepting calls lol so back to DS i went...i did a new install, i didnt restore a backup...anyway i installed DS 4.2 after wiping...but i forgot to mount system...yet everything went fine? so then why do we mount system?

Well some believe that mounting the system before a wipe makes for a more thorough wipe. Which makes sense to me, but unfortunately I can't explain it any better, lol. But if everything went smooth and there is no traces of previous ROM I definitely wouldn't worry about it. Not that you were

I agree, whatever they throw at us, is going to be amazing. 4.2 is super stable, great battery life, and such a good theme. honestly don't really care when the next build comes out, I'm content with what i have now haha. but i'll be one of the first to install it i'm sure.

You are already updated to the most up to date version of android for the droid x. What you refer to as 4.2, is the version of dark slide rom.

Install DarkSlide & Black Market in one smooth procedure:

check system version to ensure it is 2.3.32 or 2.3.34 (settings>about phone):
Download the DarkSlide zip and the Black Market zip to your sdcard--->
Open Bootstrapper
-Bootstrap Recovery
-Reboot Recovery
Go to Backup and Restore
-Backup (better safe than sorry!)
Go back to main Recovery
Go to Mounts and Storage
-Mount system
Go back to main Recovery Menu
-Wipe data/factory reset
Install zip from sdcard
-Choose zip from sdcard
-select DarkSlide 4.2
-Install
Go back to main Recovery Menu
Install zip from sdcard
-Choose zip from sdcard
-Select Black Market zip
-Install
Go back to main Recovery menu
Reboot
Enjoy

Is there a market update that caused the theme to go back to green? I've tried 3 times to reinstall the black market zip file with no luck. Any ideas on how to get it back?

Indeed, Market has been updated...the new market will also be themed... at the moment we just deal with the green one until then, LOL

It should...except that there was a typo in the full release of 4.2...so under about phone, it reads 4.1

Indeed, Market has been updated...the new market will also be themed... at the moment we just deal with the green one until then, LOL

Thanks Natty! I searched for a patch but didn't find anything...except that BB and Gates are working on V4.3 so I can wait til that is up and running to worry about the market. I just hate the Google green...lol.

Different Keyboards, Fonts and Icons

Hi guys, I am very new to all these Custom Roms as I was just rooted this Saturday. I installed the Darkslide 4.2 Rom last night ans so far it works amazing so far. My question though is how do I get to and try out the different keyboards available? And I have seen screens with all sorts of bad ass fonts and icons, how do I get these?

OK i'm going to try to answer these questions
- Installing keyboards:
Download the keyboard you want
move the zip file to your sd card
open bootstrapper
*hit bootstrap recovery, then "ok", then Reboot Recovery
got to "Install from zip"
find the zip file and select it
and click install
phone will reboot and you should have the new keyboard installed

Fonts i'm not sure on how to get implemented.
-Icons
download the icons you want
put them on your sd card
then in launcher pro you can create a shortcut, choose the app you want to use, then it will display the icon and name, tap the icon and choose gallery, find the icon you want to use and then hit Ok and it should create the shortcut with that icon
