Brand new Verizon Note 3. I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan so I paid full retail. I use my cell phone as a mobile hot spot in my home as I have no other source of internet (except satellite which is worse than no internet at all). My problem is that my data stream sometimes just stops. My signal strength shows 4g and 4 bars (-93db) but no data is coming through. I have speed net on my phone and when this happens and start speednet up to see what is happening I get a message that it is "looking for a server. If I go into airplane mode and then out of airplane mode (forcing the phone to look for a signal) that clears up the problem but it is fairly annoying and may happen 2 or 3 times/day.
I should point out that this is not a Note 3 problem. I had the exact same issue with my last phone, a rooted Razr Maxx. I've seen other threads discussing this issue but no one has identified the cause or a fix. I don't experience this anywhere but my home (but I don't use the phone as a mobile hot spot anywhwere else, nor do I used much data anywhere else). I am in a fringe 4g area. Out in the driveway I may get only 2 bars but I installed a Wilson signal booster in the house and consistently get 4 or 5 bars. Is this a way that Verizon is "throttling back" data usage? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
