Day one buy?

The bionic is my august 13th birthday present, obviously it its going to be a bit late. But I'll probably be buying a bionic on day one unless there are very firm release dates that say one of these really badass phones will be out in the very very near future...

You sure about that? That's what everyone was saying about the Bionic 6 months ago.

I think you're giving the phone makers too much credit where the clearly don't deserve it.

By November, it should be amply clear if the Dinara is going to release by Christmas.

I'm sure that phones coming out in September are better than the ones released 3 months ago. and I'm sure the phones released 3 months ago are better than the ones released 3 months before that. regardless of what is being said about the bionic, or what has happened with that particular phone, the fact is that there will always be something better coming 3 months down the road.

But you KNEW about the Bionic 6 months before the Charge and the Incredible2 and whatever else is out there, so you were already planning on ignoring these phones because something more badass was coming out, right?

What's wrong with making the same choice about the Dinara?

Ignoring the Bionic in favor of the Dinara is the same as ignoring the Charge and X2 and Droid3 in favor of the Bionic.

I actually agree with you 100% I am not at all trying to say you shouldn't skip the bionic and wait for the dinara. If the dinara looks like the phone you will really like, then by all means you should wait and get it. All I'm saying is that by the time dinara comes out, something better will be rumored, and if you are going to continually wait to get a phone because something better has been announced you will never get a phone. That's why at some point you will just have to say "this is the phone i want right now" and take the plunge.

Definitely would have bought it day one had it been out a month ago. But as you said, the Stratosphere could be the SGII 4G(which everyone said wouldn't happen) and even if it's not I think I want the SGII because of it's screen and CPU performance.

X2 and d3 doesn't have 4g. Either you are deadset on 4g or you are not which desides on which class of phones one would consider. There are only 3 lte phones right now and I just don't like either one. All of them are either missing something that I want or they have something I don't want. I just think the current selection is poor.

If the x2 or D3 had lte then I would not be here posting right now.

I generally agree with everything you said and think now the vigor is most likely the phone worth taking the plunge for. I mean the specs alone dictate that, but I just read about the unlocked bootloader and now I'm really hoping that 10/5 release date is accurate.

Bionic - 1.0ghz dual core < Vigor - 1.5ghz dual core
Bionic - pentile screen < Vigor 720p
Bionic - locked bootloader vs Vigor unlocked bootloader
< a month difference in release date (assuming ign doc is accurate)

That's an awful big improvement for less than a month of waiting...

I really hope though by 10/5 that I'm not making a similar argument for the prime lol.

You know, I think I will just take the plunge with the Bionic. Assuming any of theses "dates" are correct (they most likely arent, waiting for the Bionic has stopped me from getting excited) I just can't wait any longer. I have had an upgrade for literally almost a year (actually have multiple upgrades, my parents dont use their upgrades thank god) and really just can't wait any longer. I thought I was being the patient and smart one when the LTE phones were announced choosing to wait for the Bionic, but that really turned out to be an awful decision, I could have been enjoying a Thunderbolt all summer.

The Vigor is looking fantastic yes. But who knows if those "specs" are anything close to accurate. I am just not getting my hopes up anymore. And I can guarantee that by the time the Bionic is released, there will be no official info about the Vigor. And for that reason I will probably be getting the Bionic right on launch day. No more waiting.

I am with a lot of people on this forum with the insanely low OG RAM and app storage space.

Agreed. I'm sitting on a Storm2 that I just want to open the window while on the freeway and send it flying. I've been waiting on an upgrade for months, and would have bought the Bionic day one up until tomorrow (well today). But seeing whats shortly on the horizon...an extra month of waiting now, might be worth it.

I would've bought it... now idk... I need a phone asap since my D1 is crapping out....still waiting for the next set of phones to release

A poster mentioned a vigor over bionic pro that vigor would ha ve an unlocked bootloader. It seems that htc devices upgrading to gingerbread are getting the bootloaders locked down. And now htc is mentioning they giving tools to unlock them but you have to sign your warranty away.

That's the same b-day as my wife but it will be me who is getting the bionic, not her.

Depending on the specs, I might go for Bionic on day 1, switch with the Stratosphere in 2 weeks, and replace with the Vigor to see what it is like. And then most likely go back to the Bionic because the Vigor will be a tablet hahaha.

It'll cost a 100 bucks, but at least I'll have the satisfaction in my mind of being sure I did the right thing.

I am putting this exact quote on my gravestone. :icon_evil:

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.... Once I get a phone I get settled and wouldn't want to return it unless something was really wrong with it. But to each his own I guess.
