Dear Google-Please enforce a MAXIMUM on the frequency of updates a developer can push

lol, i love when that little update icon is at the top of the screen lol.
You wait for the market to tell YOU about updates? SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

I can't wait for the market to tell me. I always open market and go into my downloads section hoping to see "update available". Its addicting

edit: just did it and there is an update available! kick ass

Ditto! Just went into market and found 3 updates. I gotta agree, it would be cool to hit update all, but other than that...I love updates.

Gotta agree with everyone else...I think you're in the serious minority when it comes to NOT liking updates.

haha a droid with nipples! But yea, a way to select all the updates you want would be nice. I'm more concerned with getting a better search and filtering system in the market. Now that is what google should work on, not reducing updates.

This just proves that if you offer a room full of people a free filet mingon that there will be at least one vegetarian.

Gonna have to agree that I like updates. What's a chore about updating? You click update, the phone does it in the background, your apps (most of which are listed as being in beta stages) run better and do more...

There should be a poll on this important issue.
I have no idea how to start one or I might.

Are you getting too many updates too fast?
<yes> <no>

HAHAHAHA - no! :icon_ devil:

And a poll to see if anyone else thinks the OP needs to stop smoking whatever the h3ll he's on....

OP, if you don't want to update than DON'T CLICK THE UPDATE BUTTON....

are you for real dude? So a dev releases an app that has a bug making it unusable, your saying he shouldn't be able to fix it for a week? Dumbest thing I've ever heard, sorry....

If the OP is still reading this thread, and I'll bet he isn't, I started an identical thread a couple of months ago. Most of the replies were not supportive. Since then however I did change my mind. After all as was said earlier I didn't have to take the update.

I get your point. But I accept now that logic doesn't necessarily apply in this crazy android world. Its just what it is and how things are done.

The only thing I would change about the market is make the ability to ignore updates for certain apps. On the rare occasion that an app updates for the worse, I wouldn't want to constantly see the update notification in the task bar. Like if I go to update and see a ton of comments like "worked great before the update" etc I'd rather hold off.

Being a devil's advocate....

I understand the OP's position. I had an application update just to change the icon, and then another update just to change it back. I think that some developers create updates just to give the IMPRESSION of application improvement.

That being said, I get as excited as anyone when the update message shows up, and hope that each one is going to fix bugs or add features. I wouldn't recommend setting limits, but would like developers to have some decent reason to issue an update.

I can update about 10 apps in about a minute... Not sure what you are complaining about really....

If you have an app that you don't like (because it updates too often) remove the app...

It's pretty easy really..

+1

I have absolutely no problems with updates. Bring em on!

Does anyone else share my pain?

It doesn't matter to Google that you're feeling pain. Google evidently doesn't care at all about enforcing ANY aspect of the Market. Right now, page after page of spam apps, porn apps, and theme apps make finding quality apps nearly impossible, and Google hasn't done anything to address this far more embarrassing situation (nor do they plan to, from what I can gather). Not to mention that the number one Internet search provider offers ZERO facilities for advanced searching/filtering/sorting in their own Market! (WTF?) So, anyway, with Google's demonstrated indifference to the app marketplace, I hardly think they will take any effort against some developers release frequent updates - even if the majority of us DID think frequent updates were bad.

While you can't force a dev to post such things I suppose it also would be nice to know what was coming in the new update. I find myself relying on the last 3 comments in the market for the app. If any of them say the update is worse then I skip it. I'd also like a "on hold" or "skip" option so that notification is gone until a newer update comes along.

Many times I have wondered, "what was that for" but it isn't a bother to just click through and update.
