Dear Google-Please enforce a MAXIMUM on the frequency of updates a developer can push

LOL i cant believe the OP wants Google to stop developers from making their product better. I say bring on the updates if they improve the application. Always room for improvement in my book!

:motdroidvert: > :iphone:

I can see his point. c:geo updates every couple days, and they are tiny updates. sometimes I get irritated when I update it, sleep eight hours, and see it needs updated again.

Then I ask myself: What does it hurt me to tap the screen a few times if it means the betterment of the program?

So to sum it up: I'd rather them update their apps 10 times a week rather than 10 times a year.

Does anyone else share my pain?

It doesn't matter to Google that you're feeling pain. Google evidently doesn't care at all about enforcing ANY aspect of the Market. Right now, page after page of spam apps, porn apps, and theme apps make finding quality apps nearly impossible, and Google hasn't done anything to address this far more embarrassing situation (nor do they plan to, from what I can gather). Not to mention that the number one Internet search provider offers ZERO facilities for advanced searching/filtering/sorting in their own Market! (WTF?) So, anyway, with Google's demonstrated indifference to the app marketplace, I hardly think they will take any effort against some developers release frequent updates - even if the majority of us DID think frequent updates were bad.

If Google starts to regulate the Market to fix this problem, then you're one step on the road to Apple-town... It's not hard to find apps that do what you want. Search the boards, search the market and sort by rating and use. If you cant find what you want, then you're not trying hard enough.

Well this thread has to be the height of *****y laziness... I get too many updates because I've got so many apps from good developers who are always tweaking their designs... but here's the deal ....

I pull down the notification panel and press "clear" ... and it's gone... then when I have time on a Sunday morning or whatever I go to market and hit "menu/downloads" and look at updates and install them and then try to figure out what the update was for... big deal.... tough work

I can't imagine *****ing at the marketplace or the developer for sending a note saying "got somethin for ya, grab it if you want it"

I can just imagine this guy lookin at his phone and saying " awww great... something else I have to do now dammit!!" .... and he gets mad when the remote control isn't within arms reach ..... and I heard him screaming at a hotpocket because you gadda put it in the crisping sleeve before microwaving.... what is the world coming to.... pretty soon we'll have to pump our own gas and push a cart around the store to get our groceries...

They have phones at radio shack for guys like you with 10 numbers and a send button on the front... super easy to use and you won't be bothered by all this fancy high tech nightmare pain in the ass update stuff...

My wife is still giggling over there tellin her sister about "the guy with the updataphobia".. what a crack up

I've read all 51 posts. This one's the winner, hahah, good one! Anyway, pretty much the feelings i have, have been expressed. Expressed alot better then i would've been able to so thanks guys and gals.

Wow guys, seriously? This guy has a legitimate opinion, and for all intents and purposes doesn't seem to be a moron.

I've been pretty impressed with the level of community feel around here, and the friendliness of the forums; but the epic fail, and the ranting about nothing crap is going over the edge of reasonable. By all means, freedom of speech, but why not save the harsh stuff for the people that post things solely to annoy the community as a whole. I'm not saying be nazi "carebear"ish, but man. The attitude here kind of irks me.

I don't agree with the guy, but at least I can acknowledge his opinion, and disagree without being an ass.

Stuff like this makes me see why people wouldn't want to be a member of this community.

It seems like this would be best implemented on the user side. Just change the current settings choices of "Notify me of updates" and "Don't notify me of updates" to add a user-selectable interval between notifications. That way the OP can have his phone automatically check once a month, the rest of us can keep checking every couple hours, and devs don't have to sit there tapping their foot and counting down the minutes until they're allowed to submit a fix for the horrible bug they accidentally introduced in their last release.

Problem solved and everyone is happy :)

I honestly thing some of them "update" their apps just so it will be close to the top of the "just in" section and they will get more downloads and more visibility. When they give a reason such a a bug fix, etc, I understand. I just want to know what's changing in the update.

What is up with OP... I can't wait for app updates. I don't imagine anyone that wouldn't. If possible, I would update all my apps everyday!

Just to clarify, I said it was NEARLY impossible, and I was also talking specifically about the Market. Threads like the one you cited are where I find ALL my apps, precisely BECAUSE the Market is so poorly designed and managed.

I'd like to jump on this one without being a dick.. as I was a few posts back.. .. .. at least I try to be a funny dick.... but anyway

The market should not be used as a retail outlet with everything neat and organized and a pretty girl to hold your hand and show you where everything is... it's a warehouse... with warehouse pricing... if you want organized, library like, ease of use with all the rules and restrictions to go with it... and the high app prices... then you bit into the wrong apple homie.

Aren't we the android community??
Aren't we different from other iPeople??
Didn't we get into all this for the same reasons??
Less restrictions
A more open platform
A market FOR the people.. BY the people

Now we get on a forum and start feeling all smart and fussy and suggesting there should be more rules and restrictions and organization... and that's gonna screw up the whole android idea we had going so good here...

Then somebody suggests that we have taken a crappy tone with this guy and he has his opinion.. well I feel strongly about mine .... and his opinion, if propagated, could affect my android community.... so I say "squash that bug before it reproduces"
I will not sit back and see whiners change what we have come to enjoy so much... we are the majority in this forum...WE ARE ANDROID!!!

Note: this whole thing sounded better with "proud to be an american" playing in the background.....just sayin

and he gets mad when the remote control isn't within arms reach ..... and I heard him screaming at a hotpocket because you gadda put it in the crisping sleeve before microwaving....

An "update all" would be nice or a checkbox list to check off all but the one you don't want to update. Other than that it works fine for me how it is.

Agreed the checkbox thing would be awsome!

Now scuse me while I get these updates that I ignored earlier while watching the race lol
