DMUpdater updated to root Droid 1, Droid X, and EVO 4G within app

i have a mac and cant use rsdlite thats y i used this to root :/
Okay, in that case I'd recommend you do one of three things:

1: Stay rooted and enjoy all the ROMs available to to now, even if you just flash in the "virgin" rooted FRG01B ROM kicking around.

2: Ask someone over in the rescue squad for help. I'm sure there's a way to unroot using ADB and if they could cram the first FroYo leak onto Hookbill's phone without rooting him they could probably fix you up... but you'll probably have to uninstall Bugless Beast first.

3: Wait for DMUpdater to be released officially and use it to unroot. You'll have to flash in a stock ROM to allow the update to take.

There's a fourth option, but I doubt you'll like it...

(Ask a friend with a PC if you can borrow it for a while so you can RSDLite your phone from there.)

There may be other options but I think I've covered the main ones. Good luck and let us know if there's anything else we can do. :)

I rooted this weekend with the updater and i had no problems... Do i have to unroot or am i ok as long as i didnt brick my phone? thanks for any replies
If all is well, why unroot unless you're worried about having voided the warranty? The Devs just didn't want anyone using the program anymore because it COULD damage phones.

Nah, warranty isnt worth a damn anyways! Im glad it worked for me, just wish i did it sooner! Thank you for the quick reply

Wow, I rooted using this method on Thursday night and just got back home after a long weekend. I have had no problems with it all weekeend. Should I be worried? Is there something I should do to change the way I am rooted? I don't know why I waited so long to root.

I also rooted with the dmupdater and it worked flawlessly. D1 2.1, that is what seems to be important.

I'm another "can't believe I waited this long to root" type.

Wow, how do some of you survive? Read more, post less.

Just for kicks I am going to say "DAMN!" When first leaked/linked this looked to be the best and easiest way to root the stock 2.1 Motorola A855 as written in the OP and testified by the many, many of those who got to use it successfully before the links were changed. I had it all ready for a new guide, but now no. I feel like trying to find where to lay the blame for this failure and subsequent removal and changing of the links this .apk uses, but it's all over.

And now I guess I will just say a few more things. Usually when a file is posted with an .apk extension, it will download to your windows machine with a .zip extension. Just change it back to .apk. The reason this file doesn't work anymore is that just like the original DMUpdater (and even the sholes.info updater) it uses the data connection and/or internet to access a preset IP address (a server) coded within the .apk to download the files needed to continue. Just like ROM Manager, most everything you select in ROM Manager accesses the internet. Now for whatever reason, maybe those who didn't read up enough and had failures, and/or one user here contacting the DroidMod team about this file, the data/info/files/links were changed on said servers so that you now either can't use it at all and/or are prompted to pay $20 to continue. Now if you can't figure that out for yourselves, $20 is way TOO MUCH for any app like this and really meant to be a deterent. I.E. STOP!

OK, I'm done, already rambled too much for an old man . . . . .

+1 Teddy.

However, the people who NEED to read that won't. You know it, I know it, and JonDenver'sCopilot knows it. :)

However, with the link in the OP taken down, I think we're all safe.

SANCTUARY! SANCTUARY!!

Thanks guys. It can be hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys, lol. Just kidding all.

[soapbox]But seriously, it becomes difficult sometimes to try and post here to help folks i.e. in the rescue squad (which is one of the BEST parts of this site IMHO), when it is so apparent that the person you're trying to help doesn't even have a clue, nor read anything about where they are trying to go. The first thing I try to ask for is the last half of their 'about phone' section. Or the other ones I kind of have to (force myself to) laugh at those who post three or more posts within 30-45 minutes of each other, the last one being "Really?? NO one!!??". This is a forum, not a twitter feed.[/soapbox]

Um, the iPhone isn't coming in January. However, if you're going to hold your breath while you wait I want pictures of every shade of blue you turn.

As a matter of fact it is...here's more: "from someone in the know that Verizon is already testing an LTE iPhone in Boston and that the official launch is dependent upon the mass expansion of the carrier's 4G network. We hear an announcement could come as soon as September (a month when Apple traditionally holds an event to introduce new iPods"

It's inevitable...the iPhone will come to Verizon folks

Yes, now Verizon can suffer from the Death Grip with its flagship phone.

Verizon's been bashing Apple for almost a year now with the Droid Does commercials. Relations aren't that great between the companies, obviously, and Sprint's running an LTE network now -- I don't see the iPhone there yet. Instead I see the Evo 4G, which is Android-based.

LTE = 4G, not iPhone.

Who cares....iPhones just don't appeal to as many people in the android world as the hype has led you to believe.

Actually, I've had several discussions with other Android users, and the common sentiment is, the only reason they bought a Droid, or whatever phone, is because they couldn't get an iPhone. I completely agree that it's having a serious/stupid issue right now with the antenna, but it will be fixed. The actual number one reason why I have read over and over (and this comes from users as well) the apps on the Android Market SUCK. They are decent at best. With the way things are going however, I would not be surprised to see the AM surpass the iTunes store in time and quality...but that's a looooooong way off.

we are way off topic, but i bought my brothers ipod touch cuz i was tired of my pandora issues on droid. I had an iphone 3gs in october before i switched. As I loaded uo through all that itunes nd stff and saw how slow it loaded up. I becgan to realize android is so much better. I had wanted an itunes set up when i first bought the droid. Now after 9 mnths, i began to realize that the itunes just slow me down, im able to load it up the droid faster by moving and dropping files.
I give apple this, they make good ipods/music players. The ipod plays music better, but thats all it does. If you want the pefect world get a droid, root and use wifi tethering for you ipad/ipod touch.
