To all: we're very sorry about the delay in this release. We're all Engineers here, and not so good at estimating.

Nonetheless, the build has become stable and there is just one last bit of tidying up to do before we release it. Part of the slow down is we are about 1/2 dedicated to this build, and about 1/2 dedicated to the Remote Login for the next release. We also have one guy becoming our Sound-guru ;-)

Here's a peek at what'll be out soon:

* Optional password-protect for the app
* Networking bugs fixed, so Satellite users and others won't get so many "Authentication Failed" errors
* Windows 7 visual bugs fixed
* MUCH more intuitive key support--now the keyboards (hard and soft) behave like they do elsewhere
* Multi-touch for Samsung users
* Side-zoom zone as an option to multi-touch (especially for Cliq users, for whom our unique multi-touch doesn't work)
* Complete rewrite of keyboard functionality in the PC app; now the app won't stall while typing, and RDP sessions will work properly on the controlled PC
* More...

I think we're out of the rewriting business now, and most bugs have been squashed. It'll be nice to spend a couple weeks on cool new stuff (login, sound)!

I was wondering if by remote login, we are talking about being able to access my computer even when it is asleep, or when it is in the lock screen, or both?

I finally purchased the app and must say it is incredible! I was pleasantly surprised to find that if I was connected to WiFi and the quality was set on medium, video played smoothly... now only to get audio in the mix!

@spazma: yes. But, we will not have "wake on lan" type functionality (for now), so if the PC is asleep, it must have at lease some CPU and the network card must be awake.

@homemadehitshow: yes, it will. When we release the Sound feature, we plan to have the ability to mute the PC while playing.

Hi someone,
Yes and no. Each PC takes some small amount of resources on our servers, so we put a cap at 3 to protect the servers from overuse; we thought this a reasonable number for the one-time fixed fee of the application.

However, we will have some means of getting more in the future.

For the time being, there is a hack you can use, but it won't work forever. Here's what it is:

Our servers count your 3 PC limit by your credentials. So, if you need a couple more, just use similar credentials (like add a digit to the name, for example) on those.

To view them on the phone, just press Menu, Settings when you first run the app, and add that digit to your name. Then his Back.

You're essentially using two accounts on the phone, which will enable 6 total PC's.

Again, this will not work forever, but until we have a way to 'properly' get more than 3, we don't mind people doing this. Please don't over-use it though.

I hope updates come sooner after THIS update arrives (which has been promised at a certain date which passes with no update over and over again). Be forewarned I have never received any updates for this app since I purchased it (Ive had it for months now). This is disheartening. I cannot leave my PC unlocked all the time which makes this app completely useless for me and many other users. I have discussed this app with many users (I work for a tech company fulls of geeks) and they will not buy it until, at least the unlock feature, is fixed (most use VNC). Considering the lack of updates, missing promised update dates, and the lack of being able to leave your computer locked I would have to agree with them.

I said the same thing. I didn't want to buy this app until sound was available. After reading all the hype I broke down and picked it up anyway. I didn't realize the computer lock issue until I had it for over 24 hours or else I would have returned it.

Since the developer is so quick to jump on the forum and fix an issue I figured the app would have updates coming regularly and sound/security would be here soon enough. Then the developer released a new app for photo viewing. Now it would take even longer for PhoneMyPc to get an update, but I understand the developer doesnt want to put all his eggs in one basket. More money going to the developer means a better end product for PhoneMyPc anyway (if it gets updated).

Fast forward two months and we are still waiting for one single update. I understand the developer doesn't want to release the update until it is ready, but this update was promised to us well over a month ago. Its kind of disappointing.

What an amazing program/app. I just installed it and it freaks me out how quickly the PC responds to commands from the phone.

One issue I'm having is that when you have video playing in full screen, it shows up as black on the phone. Whereas, if you have it play in a window, it displays fine.

I'd love to use this for my HTPC to watch TV (when sound is eventually released), but the Media Center defaults to full screen.
