BeefGJ here. Got my Droid X about a month ago. Already dropped it a couple times, but it's still kickin. Think it's my 4th smartphone. Had a little BB pearl for last couple years.

So, I'm still trying to figure out a few things, hope to keep researching to find out:
1. How to dial faster (seems like many more keystrokes to look up & call a contact that's buried in my contact list)
2. How to get free wifi tether working..
- sounds like I need to "root" my baby to get actual free wifi ap tether
- should I root it before or after vzw pushes froyo
3. I'm an IT guy, not a true guru at anything, but was hoping to find some good IT tools to help me, such as
- wifi analyzer, got it, check. good stuff
- anything that might help me RDP into a server?
- any other IT related tools people have discovered?
4. I am using my DX to connect to exchange 2010 server. Seems to work OK stock. I have heard several other say I should use Touchdown app for email instead. Trying to find out what the benefits are, especially in relation to stock email tools that will come with froyo.
5. Oh, better go get me a holster, hoping it will help me stop droppin' it... But I'm bummed I'll have to take off cover thingy to fit in car dock.

So, we'll see if I can figure out these things as I search and search. If you have any advice, feel free to contact me!

Okay...(standing) "I'm Brocko and I have just gotten a Droid(1)" Hello fellow droid-ers, droidians? drudes and droidettes? anyhows :) I've had a BB 8330 for the last 4 years, finally got out of my contract with Splint/NexTaHell and am very happy. I'm behind the 8ball with the Droid1 but likey likey very much. Got a big learning curve ahead of me but this is the place for the help I will need!

hey all. I'm a former Verizon rep, and after being out of the loop for over a year, I'm returning shortly. In consideration of my boyfriend being a vanilla droid lover, he decided as an anniversary present he'd get me the Droid 2. I love it so far.. but I keep finding things that I didn't know it could do. :P I'd love to be able to apply a theme, and I've already checked out the ones the market offers, but would like to be able to customize it more. Can someone point me in the right direction? Please, and many thanks. :)

Just got mine today as well. :) We can learn together. I've been studying app programming for the last week or so...

Hi All,

I have my HTC Incredible and was searching for information on why apps were loading automatically after the Verizon update last week. Much to my delight I stumbled upon this site. Already learned very useful info and hope to continue. :)

Newby

Hello. I had a Crackberry Storm Version 1 and HATED it! The dang thing locked up every 2 minutes and I'd have to do a battery pull.

I switched to the Original Motorola Droid the day it came out, and then switched to the HTC Incredible the day it came out. I gave my "old" Droid to my wife who's now hooked as well. I found your site looking for answers to two questions. I've gotten one question answered, but still working on the second question.

Thanks,
Scott

First time Android user

I'm with Verizonwireless and just upgraded phone from Windows Mobile (HTC Ozone) to a Droid X. There are lots things I like about the Droid (like the vast pool of users that share information as this forum). And there are things that I don't like (can't easily sync to my work's MS-Outlook).
Here are a the apps from the Android Market I love so far (in alphabetical order):
  • Advance Task Killer Free
  • Barcode Scanner
  • EasyRoot (>< you know what I do with it ><)

I'm still learning the OS and hope to get through it by joining this forum. Here are a couple of 'Things To Do' list that I hope to get done:
  • Find a good protective case that fits in the Motorola Car Dock
  • Wifi tether with my iPad ><
  • Sync with work's Outlook (calendar, mail, contacts) w/o corporate's push
  • Find a way to listen to my KFI's Bill Handel podcasts, with similar process as with Windows Media Player (I still can't figure out how to download episodes and play them as media playlist on the Droid X)

Thank you all for contributing to the community like this. I'll do the same if I know something that can help others.

Well, I've been stuck in the past with my LG envy, envy 3, chocolate touch kick until now. I've purchased the Droid 2 and now I am having fun learning to use this super high speed/low drag, complicated piece of futuristic technology and I'm having just a few issues. First of all my name is Howie B and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I lead a very eventful life and if anyone cares to hear about it then we could discuss that at a later time.. :) Could anyone point me in the right direction for the basics of using the Droid 2 from a newbies standpoint. I can place calls, texts, download apps and do almost everything I need to do so far but I don't even know how to edit contacts or add pictures to the phone from my computer. DOH!!
