Down to two, charge vs thunderbolt help!

My coworker has the TB and its a decent phone. The battery life on it sucks and he had to get the extended battery which makes the phone looks like a brick. He also complains that when you are outside in sunlight its hard to see. The dude rooted the phone and has made some tweaks to it.

I got a chance to play around with the droid charge and i like it. I think the 4.3 screen is an over kill and prefer if it was 4.0. The battery life was good and overall a decent phone. It does have a cheap and plastic feel to it. I wish there was a metal cover panel for the back. I am not looking for a full enclosure to cover the phone but just a panel to replace the back cover. That would make me happy.

My ideal phone is the Samsung S2 but that is not coming out soon and I had to pick a phone to lock in unlimited data since I have a regular phone.

Again, like I said. I'm getting one on thursday so I can have unlimited data. And I checked the 4g coverage at my house and at my work and it says its full 4g coverage

I would go 4G then. Plus 4G will have a better resale value if you choose to purchase the Bionic (or another phone full price) and sell your old phone.

Even if you only get 4G HALF the time, you'll fall back on 3G. It's still better than just getting a 3G phone.

What is wrong with the LG Revolution? Better battery life than the TB, better form factor than the charge. Almost as good a screen as the Charge and way better than HTC's. Plus it ships rooted.

IMO the best compromise.

I think the main problem with the Revo is that it comes Bing'd out.

When I was trying out 4g phones at Verizon, I immediately put the rev out of the running b/c the screen quality/ display was horrible; muted, bland color, very blah. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and checked out all three rev's in the store and the screen quality was the same on each.

I actually was not even going to consider the charge b/c I thought the phone was ugly but I ended up loving it. Screen quality excellent, very responsive ( where the tbolts were not) and I liked the interface, swype keyboard, love the physical home buttons and the options other phones don't have.

I also tried out the dinc2 and thought it was an excellent phone but too similar to what I have now and wanted something different. It was my second choice.

After spending over a month reading blogs and forums comparing the charge and tbolt, I ordered the charge and should be getting it in the mail today.

So i think im going to go with the charge, plus im getting the phone from costco anyway. so I have 90 days to return if I dont like it (*cough* When the bionic comes out) And it will enable me to get the unlimited data

So i guess it will work out for the most part, Im just PRAYING that i don't get the "no network" issue while im at working browsing this and other forums which is what I pretty much do from 4pm to midnight every day.

And it sucks that It doesn't have netflix, because I already have netflix... Does anyone know a way to watch moves / tv on your cell for free? just curious if there are any other options.

I agree that the back plastic cover is very dinky. But then again when you throw on a nice case on the phone that should be alright. meh. id prefer brushed aluminum. and the added weight. make it feel more durable.

Anyone recommend a good phone cover for this phone in particular? or is that all just personal preference?

anyway, ill be happy either way, beacuse ANYTHING is better then this MetroPCS LG Optimus PIECE OF S**T!!!!!!!! - 2g network, running 1x internet speeds ALWAYS, and that's IF i have a signal ;p

I actually got a case for my CHARGE and it was a dual case with the bottom with rubber and the outside with a hard coating and it makes the phone very durable. This case is available at the Verizon store nearby wherever you live. I also recommend a screen protector for the touch screen because you may get some scratches on the touch screen.

My good friend got a Charge the other week(coming from a DX)and LOVES it. He already rooted it and is running customs Roms on it. I definitely think the Charge is a good choice over a Bolt or X2.

I spent a lot of time in a Verizon store earlier this week comparative testing a TB and Charge. Liked them both, but am waiting for the Bionic to drop. Then I will do a three-way comparative test.

My OG Droid is working fine, so I don't have a sense of urgency, unless we find out that upgrading to 4G does void the grandfathering of the unlimited data plan.

The Bionic will be both dual-core and LTE. I don't want to lock in for two years without considering it (this will be my last one-year upgrade).

Having said all that, based on what I saw from the Charge this week, I don't think you will be disappointed in it.

Ya. Important currently using the Charge and I really love the phone. If you are going to get the Tbolt you need your charger a lot because the battery is really bad. Im talking losing the battery in 5 hours with medium usage. The Charge is better with battery but not great. The Charge with heavy usage lasts about 10 hours which is pretty good for a 4G phone.
There are also a couple of flaws with the Charge. One of them is when you enter the text there is a word recommendation box and even if you have the word spelled right it will keep auto coerecting the word so it is sometimes hard to type. Also on websites that carry heavy flash sites the Charge will lock up and you have to disable the ads in order to get a better web browsing experience.
I still think that the Droid Charge is the best 4G phone out of the three thE are out right now.

Just got my charge today and I love out so far! Been playing with it non stop and no drain on battery...still showing a full charge! I do not have 4g and yet it is still lightning fast with a better 3g signal than my incredible got. So far I am very happy!
