Droid 2 icon to take you directly to a new message?

Hi, all, just got my Droid 2 yesterday and I gotta say I CANNOT put it down :heart:
Ok, on to my query - is there an icon to get straight to a new text message and that will show how many new messages I have? Or do I forever have to stop what I'm doing, go to home screen, click 'text message,' and then get it from my inbox?

Ok stumbled across the answer myself as I was goofing around with the droid, sooooo nevermind
