DROID 3 or Bionic?

I did. I read another thread that was much more outdated and unhelpful.

You should read the OP of the thread you posted. It's asking for a comparison of the Bionic/Droid 3 to phones that have already been released. This thread asks which one people prefer between the two - same sort of topic, different takes.

For me, I prefer this one. Is that okay with you or do I have to go post in the other thread?

Aside from that, I'm curious to see which one people prefer out of the D3 and the Bionic and why. Thanks for any input.

All I did was point out a thread with the same topic that the conversation could take place in (because duplicate threads are frowned upon) or that could offer other relevant information due to the similarities. There was no need for your comment about it, nor is there a need for you to ask sarcastic questions about where to post. My post was relevant to the topic. Your post calling out mine was not. Post wherever you like, just don't go making snide, off topic remarks that are only intended to try to stir something up. There's no need for it.

It's not like the thread is buried or anything:

I'm pretty good at sarcasm, and that sure looks like sarcasm to me: as a matter of fact that looks like the first instance of it in this thread.

I appreciate you pointing everyone to another similar topic, but for me, it's not as relevant because I haven't had experience with a D2 or a DX2. So, if we could kindly get back to the topic of this thread, I would appreciate it.

Droid 3 for me because of keyboard and that fact my area doesnt have 4g yet.

That's really the long and the short of it. The Bionic make take a step up on the processor clock speed (and maybe RAM), but what it really comes down to is the keyboard and 4G. The global aspect of the Droid 3 is important for me as well. A lot of the rest looks like it will be quite similar.

Can't you almost look at 4G as a sort of investment though? I mean, I don't have 4G in my immediate area, but the next closest city does I believe. So wouldn't one want to get 4G due to the fact that it will most likely be greatly expanding over the next 2 years and that one would want to have a phone that supports it?

4g is an investment, but I can go either way. I got caught up needing a 4g phone a while back, but after evaluating my usage it isn't a deal breaker if a phone doesn't have it for me. It will be different for every person. Other features are more important to me in a phone like battery life, tv/hmdi out, good memory management, nice screen, etc. Some people want a physical keyboard, some people want 4g.

Over rated? LMAO!!!!

I get 4g more often than 3g.

And the speed...wow insane.

Get the bionic. I wouldn't get either, but if I had to choose I'd go with that.

what would u get then?

Thunderbolt!

No other phones I really like right now. I had a d1 for about eight months. Dx for like 6. Incredible which verizon gave me free for a week didn't really use it. And now thunderbolt.

I know why people love htc now. Aside from battery it's great.

Motorola is good but all motorola phones I had were bad with photos, laggy a little. This is the first phone I hacked to be fair but even before that it's the smoothest phone I ever owned.

I would not get a 3g phone now that 4g is being tiered. Take advantage of free 4g!

I think most folks that dwell in these type of forums rarely keep a phone beyond one year ;)

Try 3-6 months. :)

D1 owner since the day of release!

Haha, this is probably the first phone I've had for over a year in a long time though.

Have any of you experienced dual core though? Holy crap the X2 is unbelievable. I thought this whole time it was blur that was laggy but with the X2 there isn't even a hint of lag and my Droid 2 is running the same version of it. Even with a cpu heavy live wallpaper and a crapload of widgets! So even though the bionic is dualcore and the Droid 3 is, the Droid 3 will be nothing to sneeze at. Downloads and everything will still be lightning fast.

D3: 4" screen, somewhat larger KB with # row but same basic KB set up.... No 4G (in my case for future access) Internals..... about the same in my opinion for my usage.

DBnc: Proposed 4.5" screen (may or may not verge on too big), larger screen however is better for any videos and gaming, also would be better for On-Screen KB use possibly making such KBs something I may actually want to use.

Main Debate: Phys KB is great but, thinking on it, when 4G is available in my area I will likely want it and the D3 will not have it. From purchase time, I believe the DBnc would have more longevity as it would already be set up for the new 4G once it hit my area, whereas the D3 although I love the phys KB (granted, on DBnc an on-screen KB would be much larger than the current D1 versions)....., the D3 would be in need of replacement once 4G landed here...............

D3: KB + lesser longevity = 1pnt
DBnc: 4G - KB+ larger OS-KB+ greater longevity = 2.5pnts

Yeah I do realize that, but I usually sign the 2 year contract because I don't have $600 to shell out for retail price on a phone. And it seems that 1 yr contracts usually tack another $100 onto the price of the phone compared to a 2 yr contract. So I dunno if I will try to go for a one yr contract this time (I might) but I usually go for 2 because the phone cost is cheaper.
