Yes I am wiping many many times before and after install.

What do you mean by a "/system format" in the beginning?

I'm going to chime in here Sam.

I occasionally receive some prework from our fine developer here. And I have admitted to him, that I don't wipe as much as he says, and I've only once had an issue.

I start here:
Cache
Data
System
Dalvik
Flash
Cache
Data
Dalvik

Has not failed me but once, and that was because of the google sign in issue. I am on call frequently, so I wasn't able to rectify at that time, but I will be flashing this tonight.

Wiping /system means that you will have nothing to boot into. Wiping the entire ROM from the memory of the phone, thus pretty much having a really clean slate. Then you'll have to flash this ROM, or .906 before being able to do anything.

EDIT: Ninja'd by guidot. :)

What I did was this:

Wipe data/factory reset 5/7 times
Wipe cache 5/7 times
Wipe dalvik 5/7 times
Flashed ROM
Rebooted

I didn't really have any issues except that I didn't let the phone settle properly before messing with it. I've never wiped /system, nor had to.

When you guys say let settle, can you give a bit more detailed info on this. Do I let it sit for an hour or a week or what?

Do I not do anything at all with it?

what is cwm?

Recovery (ClockWork Mod Recovery). Go to Mounts and Storage in the main menu and scroll down to format/ system

side note - are you d/ling over 3g, wifi or to a PC and moving it over? I had the google issue, but a redownload fixed mine. And like Guidot, I don't wipe as much as suggested ;-)

Yeah, once you boot it, and do the initial setup, just let it sit until everything is synced/loaded. Then you should be good.

Well, there goes that theory. :p

Here's what I did. Format system/Wipe Data/Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik/Flash/Reboot. Like I said, the first time I didn't get the google account option. The second time I did.

I've got my fingers crossed for you. This time it will work. *sending positive flash vibes*

Oh, how i miss the OG Droid...

Sorry it's at your expense Sam, but reading through this thread has been giving me a small break from my family emergencies. I too had problems with the Google thing...restored a backup in the meantime.

Probably a dumb question, Does formatting /system touch anything on the non safe side? or does it ONLY wipe the safe ROM?
