droid headphone jack broke no customer service...

It is covered under warranty... My dare (biggest POS phone I have ever owned) stopped charging due to a failure with the power cord adaptor and they replaced my dare. from what I assume, it is the same issue as what you are experiencing except with your jack.

Only if there is no physical damage present. If you broke it you would need insurance. In the OPs case he wasnt very clear except to say it broke. And that is why i said "usually" it would have to go through insurance. 9 times out of 10 with charging ports it shows physical damage or "wear and tear" which is not covered under warranty. I am not saying that you made that up but a big portion of it is the rep you get in the warranty dept.

The jack is in the phone, if it does not work it is defective. If it is broken from wear , it should not have worn out so fast, its defective, under warranty. Verizon likes to try and make people go thru insurance for wrong reasons. Dont fall for it.

Really? So if I have a warranty on my car and I burn out my breakpads does the warranty cover that? NO, wear and tear or physical damage is not covered under warranty. I work for Verizon sir.

And thank you for pointing out that the headphone jack is in the phone I was just about to start a thread to ask about that.

People come in all the time with broken charging ports, headphone jacks and whatever else and unfortunately most of the time its damage caused by the customer.

OP, how is your headphone jack broke?

Yes, If the brakes burned out on a new car with in a short period of time, it is covered under warranty. So you must be one of those Verizon people that most people hate for not being honest and blaming every problem with phones saying its not under warranty because of improper use...

No your absolutely right sir. I was wrong. It must be part of a bigger consiracy by Verizon to see how many people they can screw..

Just because something is internal (or goes into vs. goes out of) does not mean a customer cannot damage it. What happens if the jack is full of mud, dirt, sand, dog hair, human hair, whatever take your pick, and the internal contacts are too dirty to conduct?

What happens if you spill coffee, beer, a Morgan's Rum into the little hole, will it blow out the entire phone or just the jack? Or, will it do anything?

What happens if you stick a male headphone terminal that has a sharp corner due to customer damage? Will it destroy the female headphone jack terminal? I don’t know and not about to try it.

I believe what some are saying is until the original poster defines "broke,” it is hard to make a unambiguous statement that it is covered under warranty and should not be submitted to insurance.

Since someone brought up vehicles, I once broke my Jeep, but it was totally my fault and insurance paid. However, I have had vehicle break and it was covered under warranty.

Just as a side note: Most car manufacturers will cover brake pads up to 12K, after that, but still under warranty, they will not cover.

Thank you for that. You are right. Op has yet to respond on how its broke. I was trying to help and got bombarded by ignorance. But I am used to it as I deal with people that have it out for Verizon and try to find ways to make Verizon look bad. The fact is most of the time with a variety of issues it usually is the customers fault for not understanding how the business works and they automatically start blaming Verizon like its some conspiracy.

Yes, Verizon screws alot of people everyday. Some of verizon employees are giving people the wrong information on defective phones making people use the insurance when it clearly is a defective issue. And I know someone who works for Verizon, in a different department and they treat their employees like crap. I hear it is a terrible company to work for.

Then why does he still work there? and why do you still use Verizon if there just trying to screw you? I dont give false information and anyone that works under me that does gets reprimaded. If I were you I would just switch wireless companies and help your friend find a new job.

He works there because he has to support his family. I still use verizon because where I live, they have the best reception. When they try and screw me, I just contact corporate headquarters and get it resolved and they always tell me that some of their employees were treating customers incorrectly and they will be dealt with. One time they had the employee apologise to me.

Ok Im sorry to hear about your bad experience but am happy to hear that it got resolved. Verizon is such a big company and I cant speak for all of the company but I know some reps do that kind of stuff but thats not Verizon telling them to do it its probably laziness or carelessness. Thank you.

Anyway did OP ditch this thread or what>? How did your jack break OP ?

Not everyone is happy with who they work for. That is part of human nature. Over the years, I have met a few Verizon employees and most, but not all liked their employment; however, there were a few who didn't. This does not make the company a bad place to work or do business with.

For personal use (work related, Government supplied BB and nothing I say or do will change that), I have had Sprint, AT&T and Verizon, and out of those three companies, Verizon has been the best. Not only with coverage, but with service from their customer service department. Sprint I would label as second for customer service and AT&T last for coverage and service. So, it all depends on what the customer expects. One bad experience with any company can turn a customer into a raving lunatic in regard to the service or quality of the system.

There is no doubt if you live in out of the way locations, or do a lot of traveling, Verizon or Sprint are the only real two options.

I currently use Verizon, and even though AT&T offers hardly any service in this area, I could easily jump to Sprint, but see no reason too. Verizon has treated me well, and has given me no reason to jump to another company. Of course, this could change if I have problems and Verizon starts screwing with me.
However, back on subject, just because a person has a problem that most likely could be caused by a defect, does not mean the company will automatically try and screw them in the repair. For those reasons, I know I personally disregard those types of posts as someone who has a bone to pick and will offer no real meaningful information on how to get the problem fixed.
However, I am now getting quite curious myself as to why the jack broke

ok so i plan on brining in into verizon this week, my big problem is do u think i can replace it with a droid incredible or get money toward an incredible with it cause i have the droid with the raised keyboard and know i am probably going to get one with a flat keyboard which i cant handle...and it seems that this headphone jack is a common problem and I dont want to go through this again cause i travel a lot and am not home a lot to try and get problems like this fixed.

Once again I will ask, how is the jack broken?

And are you within 30 days of purchase? If so you could exchange the phone for whatever phone you want. If not then IF they cover this under warranty you will get the same phone. Same with insurance. Unless they are out of stock.

Thats not to say if you call and ask and get the right rep that they might bend the rules for you. Cant hurt.
