Droid Insurance? yay or nay?

No insurance for my wife's and I droids. As much as we love our Droids if it gets lost, stolen or broken we would just finish our contract out with the cheapest phone possible at that point. With as many gadgets as I have had I have never needed insurance for them when I had it.

The cheapest phones are a few hundred dollars retail.

Good point, but it is a mute point anyways since we are already passed our 30 days. We still have our old phones if nothing else.

WORTH IT! dropped my phone the second day I had it and the glass screen shattered!!! Since it was my fault it was an 89 dollar deductable. But better than 600 for a new one!!! You can bet I am constantly checking how I hold and handle my phone now. My other two WINMO phones (treo, saga) were dropped many times with no issues. The Treo even survived a heave to the wall I was so fed up with it one day. Just put the battery and cover back on and all was good. This big beautiful screen will not stand up to the occasional drop imho.

My DROID is the first phone I've ever opted for insurance on. After cracking the screen on my LG Voyager and forking out $350 for the Moto Rival (the absolute worst phone I've owned in modern times,) I realized that I just can't risk dropping/losing/breaking this DROID and find myself faced with paying $500+ for a replacement.

Since my Droid was a gift, insurance was a no brainer. If this thing breaks, I simply do not have the 500.00 to replace it, so, to me, insurance is a good idea. If I drop it, or it some how gets broken, stolen, or what have you, even if it's my fault, paying a 90.00 deductible is far preferable to paying full price.

No insurance. I'll just stand outside the Verizon Store and cry a lot until they give me a new one just to get rid of me.:D

Hey guys, I am wondering if it is worth it to get Verizon's Total Equipment Coverage for $7.99/month? If I DON'T get it and my phone has a problem with it (i.e: a key isn't working, screen won't lit, etc), am I screwed? If I do get it and I want to replace it cause of some faulty issue, will I get a brand new one, not refurb? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Any question of worth is a subjective matter. We can't tell you if it's worth it to you. That's a judgment call that you have to make for yourself.

You're not going to get a new replacement with any insurance unless the device is so new that they don't have refurbs to issue as replacements.

Is that what you do every year the Brown's don't make it to the playoffs? Sorry, just had to ask :)

I've been thinking about getting insurance. I dreamed last night I dropped my Droid in the lake. Don't know which is worse - not having insurance or dreaming about a cell phone.

$90 for a replacement phone is a lot but it's still beats paying full retail. Insurance is one of those things, if you don't use it, it looks like a waste of money.... but come the day you need it you'll be glad you have it.

Something worth looking into is that if you have homeowner's insurance, most companies can actually put an insurance rider on that for your droid. My insurance gave me a zero deductible 'all peril' rider which basically means that anything that happens to the phone, regardless of who caused it (i.e. me dropping it in a glass of water) will be replaced based on the retail value. All of that for only $30 a year, which definitely beats Verizon's insurance.

Fixed. Never understood why people thought this was mute...

Thanks!

I wouldnt think about it. Ok you drop (or have other problems)with your phone you get a new one if you want.
If you dont drop it (or not have any other problems) you will waste $8 a month. In a 2 year contract that means you've wasted about $192.

Your bought the phone for $200
You pay insurance for the phone for $192 plus taxes ( so if you live in CO its $203.52):icon_eek:
I would not get full insurance
