DROID Turbo Can’t Currently do Simultaneous Voice and Data!

I use waze, it's owned by google but it's a social navigation app where you can set warning and update traffic conditions yourself. It's better then any radar detector that I've owned but it's dependent on other people also using it. So in civilized countries it works great but in 3rd world countries it's not that useful.

I use Google maps, but it's got waze integration. It pops up with the same warnings. Have to agree. It's great for avoiding speed traps, accidents, & construction.

it's shocking to me that they would roll out a new tech and take a step backwards. I remember back in 3g only no simultaneous voice and data, it was the norm, then I got my bionic and was always doing it... now... they've gone backwards, it just seems counter-intuitive especially in our data heavy society.

See, I use voice and data simultaneously every day(remote desktop tech support for friends and family) and this would be a deal breaker for me.

Every day? Seriously EVERY DAY your FRIENDS OR FAMILY call you EVERY DAY for tech support that is involved enough that you need to REMOTE DESKTOP into their PC's?
Daily? Not buying it. Not even buying WEEKLY.
;)

GMaps does NOT pop-up cop, speed or redlight cams, or traffic on the side of the road warnings.
You're right. It does accidents & construction. That's all I really need because I really only use navigation when taking road trips & I plan them with enough time that I don't have to speed.

Of course, I take advantage of open stretches of highway between towns when others are.

All depends on your usage & needs.

Believe it or not, I prefer them to call me and ask before installing a plug in then later spending hours removing malware.

Some are more computer literate then others but I have certain acquaintances that literally call me every day.

So the issue is EVDO, Enhanced Voice Data Optimized.
The CDMA chip needs to support this. This is what gives you voice and data. All CDMA chipsets don't support EVDO. Since the plan is to roll out VoLTE they didn't see a need for the function.

The LG G3 and the GS5 have EVDO a support and hence can support simultaneous voice and data.

On more reason not to buy a turbo.

Makes sense, but sucks for them in the meantime.

I cut all my friend off from Tech Support. That got old... ;)

I personally charge everyone now myself. friends family... no free tech support.

Time is money my friends.

Same here. I'm the cheapest guy in town for most jobs (sometimes I work for a home cooked meal), but I gotta get something for my time.

I've been doing it since early 2011 when Verizon released htc Thunderbolt.
I just don't understand how they could miss this when their earlier phones worked just fine out of the gates.

Are you sure? I had the HTC Thunderbolt and I'm 90% sure that you could not use data while on the phone. But maybe I'm thinking 3G because I didn't have 4GLTE by my house for awhile. Wi-Fi, of course, did work while in a call.

haha dang, I wish VZW didn't change their SIM cards, I really want to pop mine into the old Thunderbolt and test that out
