Droid X Speaker Volume

I think some people need hearing aids. Yeah the volume is lower but not THAT low. BTW, as a temp fix for those who need the louder ringtones, you can download ones that are louder or use a simple audio editor to modify them.

Since this seems to be common complaint they may issue a software fix to increase the volume limit. Hopefully the speaker can handle it.

This may be a deal breaker for me as I decide which smart phone to buy. My current Alias 2 is loud in fact, I turn the call volume down two notches. If this isn't fixed with a software update, I may have to choose the iphone 4...

Then you won't be able to make calls.....;)

Speaker

I don't know, as much as I am disappointed with the speaker, I look at that little slow droid and think I'd rather stay with the X.

I came from a BB storm 9530 and this was my first and only complaint about the phone. I don't hear it ring when it's sitting on my desk in front of me! I've taken to laying the phone face down on the screen so the speaker is atleast unobstructed. The storm had two little feet that even raised it off of a flat surface to create a clearance for sound to escape.

Overall I'm really hoping this can be fixed with an application or some type of software/root update.

Phone still blows my blackberry out of the water though.

speaker

I also had a BB Storm, That was an amazing loud speaker for a cell phone, in fact it was too loud even for itself I had to return mine (luckily under warranty) because the speaker blew. The Moto Droid was really loud too. I find laying my phone on my desk with the screen up, the speaker sounds louder because it echo's off the desk. Have you tried going in to the settings under Media Audio Effects and enable effects then under EQ turn on either brillant treble or vocalizer. This doesn't make it much louder, but every little bit helps. Not how loud it is at your desk, I have an A/C unit going on high, and I can still hear mine ring. Maybe find a louder ring tone.

But still a fix would be nice.

Yea, I am disappointed in the speaker too. In calls its low. Games, music is fine. I also hear an echo in calls with the speaker phone so my issue might be a bad speaker or in calls issue..

When you say "in calls its low" do you mean on speaker phone, or the ear piece. I thought the ear piece was nice compared to the old droid which I could barely hear. I haven't tried this phone on speaker other than connected to the car, but that was being played thru the stereo.

Im actually having a harder time hearing calls on the earpiece alot. Its not mute but its such a lower volume then the droid even at max. Same goes for the speaker, I can hardly hear when anyones calling me when my ringtones are set to max

The speaker phone in calls.

I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed with the droid x speaker volume. Hopefully someone comes up with a fix or a hack for this. I have seen an lvh louder volume hack but have yet to try it.

I have documented hearing damage and a big ol hole in one eardrum I don't keep it at full volume....... though there is clearly no room for it with the en a front facing weaker for music might have been nice while browsing and what not thing drives headphones just fine also
Uh screen and speaker darn typos...

I haven't tried music yet but im more concerned that no matter what you choose for a ring tone its hard to hear. Especially if the phone is laying down on a desk blocking the rear facing speaker it is nearly impossible to hear. Just about my only gripe with tue phone but still being a phone it is a big issue to me.

It sucks listening to music, i cant barley hear pandora......i have missed a few phone calls now....i dont know how anyone can say its loud enough...

Im with a lot of you here, I do not like the speaker/volume at all. The rear facing speaker was not well thought out. I really wonder how things like this slide by.

The volume it way too low and unless you have it lying face down you can't hear ringtones or music.

It is a big deal.
