Droid X Update 2.3.340 (Not Gingerbread)

Some of you that are having issues getting the update. Power down and up your phone and try it then. Go to setting and push it manually and see if it works. That's how my worked.

Mine said same thing, "update failed"

Could it be because I an rooted and removed some bloatware?

Now it says I am up to date?!?!?!?!?

Same problem here, anyone out there have any idea how to fix?

When you do the update it looks for the stuff most people remove (bloatware) plus if your on a rom its better to sbf and do it plus you and everyone else could be trying to download at the same time causing impartial downloads of the ota. I dunno though ill wait till an sbf is out

Im on the stock rom, I rooted just so I could install Titanium Backup and freeze some apps. I downloaded the OTA update, and chose to install at a later date. When I did try to do it later, it said it failed, but it shows the update has been applied under About Phone.

FYI for anyone out there with problems syncing there Excahnge contacts to there phone.

I have completely bypassed Verizons "tech" support and went up to Level 3 or 4 with Motorola. I am speaking directly with the developers now. They stated that there is a known issue with Outlook catagories screwing up the sync process to your phone. Also, when you export your contacts to your SDcard it exports as a Vcard and only ever shows your Voicemail vcard, not your actual contacts. They are suppose to call me back in a few days for a update. I have been talking with them all week.

This is straight from Motorola developers - Use 3rd party app for Exchange sync/push - I think everyone knows by know - Touchdown.

When I first updated my phone this morning - I ended up wiping and factory resetting to get my contacts back. Just FYI

After u downloaded it, where did u find it? Which location?

I didnt have to find it, even though I tried to after it said it failed, but with no luck. I just went back to about phone > system updates, and it asked me if I wanted to install the update. Thats when it tried to update, failed, and said it was updated anyway.

Just so you all know, the update isn't going to be here (officially) anytime soon.

Naysayer! Ah, that figures. Maybe it will be here by summer.
Guess I'll try the leak then. If I install it and its released tonight, I'm coming for you!

Lol if it comes tonight, I'll give everyone who posts in this thread a dollar. But you might not want to go to the leak if you plan to do the OTA. If you do you wont be able to update when it does get released.

Maybe TBH will release it tonight, but OTA tonight is a stretch. But keep your eyes peeled because anything's possible!
LOL...All right then, I guess you owe me a dollar. The update came up for me but did not installed I dont know why since I am in stock Rom have all that crap that came with the phone had to defrosted...lol...but now after the update failing to install my phone says that its "up to date" everytime that I try to update even thought I know that the patch didn't go thru. still on .315:icon_evil:

Probably but I am still debating on installing the update or not because its only fixing a couple of glitches that it should have been done from the get go, and on top of that they are adding more crap like if its not enough with all their crap that already came with the phone. I am just fed up with us the consumers buying all this "smart" phones and them (whatever cellphone company provider you have, plus the phone manufacturer company putting stuff that we dont want or need) On to top the icing on the cake most of those apps can be downloaded from the market place so in reality if people would want them they can download them from the market place. Keep my phone, clean from all this crap that most of us don't use or want dancedroid:icon_ banana:

Yall are hilarious... Patience is a virtue.

First of all to clear some things up, not everyone gets the update at the same time. Its not by area, its by date of purchase. Instead of forcing your phone to update just wait for your phone to prompt you with an update, they only do 500-1000 a day.

I'm tired of hearing about all these rooted questions, why not just unroot intill someone here finds a patch. Its not that hard to go a week or two without root is it?

I had the update this morning but didn't do it due to a weak battery. Then I check later and it says my phone is up to date (with 2.3.15).
If the earlier posted article is true, then this update was only supposed to go out to a select test group. I just don't understand why Verizon has a page about this update under Droid X support like it has been officially released. It sounds like one big mess up to me. I have been waiting for an update to fix everything Froyo broke for far too long now. Whether this is that update or not, I don't know but this is only like rubbing salt into the wound. I just hope Verizon and Moto can get their act together soon.

At least I can say in my opinion that I don't really care whether I lost root or not. The only thing that annoys the crap out of me is all the bloatware that they force us to get in order to get the update. I am pretty sure that you own a computer, I can't say anything about apple computers because I have never own one by CHOICE. So most of the computers that I have bought in the past always come with a lot of crap which I always delete because I dont need them or because they are useless, and I am always able to get microsoft updates. Hence, if we would be able to delete a lot of the bloatware and still be able to get the updates and have the phones preloaded with a couple of themes I believe that most people wont root, but again thats just my opinion. The ONLY REASON why I ROOT is to get rid of all the stuff that I as am user of the phone and owner of the phone find to be USELESS. :icon_evil:

I agree, I wish Verizon would quit adding more and more worthless junk to my phone. I was so fed up with seeing the "subscribe to visual voice mail" button when checking my voice mails (at least until I found google voice). Now they are tacking huge game demos with updates. Is it not enough that I pay them about $250.00 every month, do I need to have crapware on my phone trying to nickel and dime me too???
As far as the computer analogy, I too have never owned an Apple computer by choice (absolutely hate the Apple hardware lock-in). I build my own PCs to avoid the crapware pre-loaded on most PCs (as well as other reasons).

I am very happy with the update. I tried my Hotmail again and the email from my phone/server deleted. That's what I needed.
