DROIDX2 Gingerbread Update Appears to Be Ready, Newest Version of Blur Included

Installed GB with update.zip after SBF and also manually updated the new Android Market. I must say that I am actually quite impressed with the upgrade. Like most other people have reported, the phone is a bit more snappy and fixed most of the minor issues I was having. All in all, thank you Motorola for taking your time with this. Speed is comparable to my rooted/frozen/supercharged Froyo setup.

It worked!! Thanks, again. I'm now running 2.3.3 and it does seem a lot faster and less choppy.

Just wait until GB based custom ROMs come out. Its even better.

Is getting the customer ROM onto the Droid X2 similar to how I did the "stock recovery" GB update? I mean, do you download a file and go into the secret phone settings? Also, would that void any type of warranty I have with VZW? Actually, the GB update was easy to do.

You are going to have to wait until GB gets root. Then use a bootstrap to get you into Clockwork Recovery. Its very simple and if you had no issues installing the GB update, you will have no problems installing a ROM.

It will be awhile before a custom ROM comes out, since GB was just released.

Also, your warranty will technically be voided, but you can always sbf back to stock and no one will ever know.

Is the new GB quite when you end a call on bluetooth?
I returned the D3, for the X2, because of this end of call beep being passed to Bluetooth.

Can anyone confirm the tone on speaker and earpiece BUT not w/ bluetooth?

You returned a phone for THAT? How do you know that the beep is being generated by the Bluetooth headset and not the phone? My BT headset beeps like that but it is the headset doing it not the phone.

I think this was answered but I can't find it and don't want to go through 20 pages again... The ZIP file that was posted here is identical to the actual OTA update, right? I'm getting tired of waiting and would rather just go it manually if they aren't going to push it out to everyone within a day or two.

I decided to see if I would get the update overnight , it didn't come . So this morning I updated myself and couldn't be happier . The phone is 2x as fast . Before it would take 4 or 5 seconds to load an email. Now it loads my email in the blink of an eye . Also the new keyboard looks good , they shrunk the "." box next to the space bar . Now I'm looking forward to some custom roms .

I'm in LA too and no update yet. Maybe they are doing the east coast first. Saving the best ( west coast ) for last.

Incorrect...I have already seen multiple replies on multiple threads and sites stating they were from LA and received the update. Unless they are lieing. I still suspect it depends on when u purchased the x2

I got mine in May from BestBuy before it was available at the Verizon stores. If it was based on who bought it first then I'm pretty sure I would have received the update last night .

I'm the same way. I got my X2 from Best Buy 1 day after it came out...so if it was "first come, first serve" type of deal...I assume I would have gotten it Friday. I'm guessing it's just the luck of the draw. I must admit like some of the others on here,...the way is killing me too! I

Update has nothing to do with when you bought phone. Most people who got it on Friday are part of a soak test. The rest is just luck.

**the file should already be renamed to update so you shouldnt have to do that step

_________________
downloaded file to computer
**renamed File to .... update ... dont rename it to update.zip (it automatically does the .zip part because it is a zip file)
move the update file to sdcard
then follow directions that have already been posted....
•Power down
•Power up holding the power button and the down arrow volume button at the same time and keep holding. You will see it say something to the effect of "Fast Boot." Now you can release.
•Press the down arrow volume button until you get to "Launch (or boot) into Android Recovery" or something to that effect. (Roughly about 7 presses).
•Press BOTH the up and down volume arrow buttons simultaneously. It will load the next window we all know.
•Now press the up AND down arrows again. Now it will put you into the menu screen.
•Up and down arrows are still used to scroll.
scroll to ...load update.zip from sdcard
Use your power button is your "enter" or "select" key.

just wait then for it to update.
