Dropped 4G Data EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Do you live in an 4G LTE area or 4G extended area? curious

If ur talking to me, I think its a extended but how do u know? What's the difference. All I know is I live in south west Indiana about 30 miles from a good size city that they put 4G in October. Well I bought the Bionic in January after having 2 Nexus's that couldn't make phone calls. My area didn't get 4G until I believe February. Well those first 2 months was awesome, didn't notice many if any data drops on 3G until the update came in February but also had 4G in my area now so since February my data connection has been sporadic.

File this under "FWIW"...
I live and work in 4G LTE cities.
When I first bought my phone in December, I only had 3G service at home and 4G LTE at work.
Rock solid data in both places.
When the 902 leak hit, I flashed it and my data was spotty at best.
When the 902 OTA hit, used that and my data was stellar- including 4G LTE at home.
When the 905 leak hit, I flashed it and my data was HORRIBLE- drops all over the place, etc.
Yesterday I got the 905 OTA and guess what? Rock solid data once again.

My takeaway from this- I think I'm going to keep away from leaks and stick with OTA updates from now on. They just seem to work better.

Sounds like your 3G was gd like mine was, rock solid. I never got leaked versions tho and mine is still horrible. I was a soak tester for 902, since that day I downloaded it I regret it.

If nothing else has come from this conversation/post we have at least learned that many of us are having the same data problems even in different cities, and although I haven't really seen any "solutions" to this yet, we now at least know that it's not the phones and that does help. So like I said earlier, I now won't waist a couple of days flashing the phone through the FXZ process, re-rooting or reloading apps and changing settings back (which reminds me that I also really wish that there was a reliable app that could make a complete working nandroid backup of the Bionic).

I have been a long time Rom Manager Pro user but these days the Bionic freezes anytime I try to restore a RM backup, so getting a phone back to the perfect state that you had it in is much more time consuming now. Sorry for going a little off topic but, as much as I love Titanium Backup, it's batch restore is not as complete to me as restoring a nandroid backup, so if any of you find an app like RM or Rom Tools etc. that works with the Bionic please let me know. It will make replacing phones in this situation a bit easier IMHO.

As for the data issues...I am surely open to any suggestions that you all might have that will help in the meantime while VZN learns how to get their network working well for EVERYONE regardless to the device you own. I wish that they would also admit that there is a problem on their end instead of leading some customer's into thinking that it could be their devices. Until the dust settles on this new LTE technology, I don't really trust that ANY of the LTE devices will work well for any long length of time. I remember when my Bionic worked GREAT everyday...DAMN, I miss those days!

We live in an extended 4G coverage area. My Maxx switches often from 3 to 4G depending on certain things. If its in my holster or I am in my basement I am mostly on 3G. In the main dwelling I am 3 or 4G and if I am upstairs on the second floor I am 4G most of the time.

Now on the other hand....my wifes Bionic.... It is 4G no matter what! I even carried it like I would my Maxx to try and duplicate it with her phone but I couldn't get it to go to 3G. So I tried a speed test to see if it was truly 4G in my basement and sure enough 12 MBPS down and 10 MBPS up. Where my Maxx would get 1 MB down and around 800 KBps up. Weird. Her Bionic is rock solid

I'm having the same issue. Yesterday was the first day in a month that I had stable LTE connection. I was so hopeful. But today... drops left and right. I'm glad it seems to be network-related and not just my phone. I was ready to throw it against a wall a few days ago.

This is exactly why I just ordered the S3 with another network. I pay Verizon like $200+ a month so I think I deserve a network that won't drop my data every now and then. Their CDMA and LTE does not work together! GSM and LTE is the way to go... The good thing is that AT&T works great in my area

I was having some serious connectivity issues over the last week or so, as was my wife. I was on the 905 leak and she was on the 902 OTA. The problem was most apparent in Google Play Music, when it would drop data about every 20 seconds, then regain it within 10 seconds.
It was most apparent in Google Music because of the way it handles data drops - it'll stop playing the current song and begin playing a locally stored song. When it regains data it'll start over playing the song it was last on when it dropped data.
What this results in is hearing the first 20 seconds of a song, then the first 10 seconds of a song, then 20 seconds of song one, then 10 seconds of song two, ad infinitum.
It was AWFUL!
I use it every day for navigation and for music in the car dock, and the data issue made it virtually unusable for both that and just listening to music otherwise.
A reboot would fix it for a short while, but then it would start again shortly after.

BUT, a cache partition wipe seems to have fixed my problems. My wife's bionic seemed to simply get rid of the problems on it's own!

Bought my bionic in January, and it was flawless from day one. Data drops were so rare, maybe once or twice a month.

About a week ago, I started dropping 4g every 15-20 minutes, sometimes more often then that! The 4g symbol would go white, then take a few minutes to turn blue, sometimes going back to white in less than 1 second. Doesn't matter if i'm at home or work, both places I get 3 bars or more, but still drops like crazy .When I am holding a connection, my download and upload speeds seem faster than ever, according to speed tests. When I get pissed, I turn off 4g, and 3g holds a signal all day long.

I have never loaded any updates manually, always waited for ota's. I was hoping .905 would help, but no change. I did a full backup with Mybackup (free version) and did a full factory reset, and I thought it was fixed. Went 6+ hours with no drops, but then out was back to dropping data, as bad or worse than before. I also tried cleaning the Sim contacts with electrical contact cleaner, no luck there either.

I don't know what to do...

Well my cache partition wipe didn't help... data still sucking, especially on Google music.
It was so solid for so long and now during the last week it's just been awful! In the Austin TX area, for reference.

I'm on 902 and in LA and 4g worked perfect until about 2 weeks ago and it has been horrible. Dropping in and out like crazy. Drove up to Sacramento and the same thing.i read another post that Verizon has a nationwide issue. It may not be your 905 at all.
This sounds Ike a Verizon problem, not bionic.

Regarding VZW and signal survey teams - I agree with Tonik - when I have reported poor coverage, Verizon sends an engineer or a team of engineers to evaluate the report. Tech support personnel have always been forthcoming with information supplied by the engineers regarding the problem.

Bionic - was rock solid on .902 (with SafeStrap). Ran the OTA to .905 and the problems started. I eventually reformatted the phone entirely and flashed to .902. Sad to report - no difference. The problem happens at home where I have okay service and at and around my office in Beverly Hills, CA. I have verified with a co-worker's iPad that 4G is up functioning well (19.5MBPS down)

This makes no sense to me as 905 is supposed to be an enhancement. It is almost as though the 905 update trashed the radio section. How can I verify which 'radio version' my Bionic is using?

I live in Honolulu, Hawaii and I am experiencing the same symptoms with my Bionic as listed. My Bionic was fine till two weeks ago and then has been growing steadily worse daily. No one at my local Verizon will explain or seem to know any information about this anomaly.

They even said that no other coustomers had complained. I was the only one. Someone outside Verizon mentioned a software glich in bionicthat causes instability with data connection. Im not sure if anyone else has heard this also? Would love to solve this mystery. It's pretty much rendering my bionic- well - not so bionic!

It appears to be a problem recently (last couple weeks) and not just in the bionic but on razr's also. Very surprising (well, not really) that verizon rep would say that he has not heard of the problem given that forums have been riddled with complaints and many people have reported that they sought verizon for a fix.

Also, for reference, I 'm having my issues near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My brother-in-law works for Verizon and said he has seen a lot of bionic owners come in complaining of data issues these last several days. He said he has been setting them up with new sim cards, and he thought that seemed to be helping, but I have my doubts. He also said his own Razr Maxx has been flawless. I'll ping him for an update when he gets back from vacation.
