alright, i wiped the file and cleared the cache, then tried applying the update from the sdcard. i went to the location, selected the zip, and now i'm getting this:

E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

???

i used the free version of RomManager. could this be the issue? i also moved the zip file from the phone to the sd card, successfully, i thought. maybe it didn't transfer to the card correctly?

You didnt change anything did you? Did you find the zip on the sd card. go back to phone and see if its still there. Gotta eat be back in a few

Im not sure what you did but if you added anything to the original file like say if the file was ndjdjhdhjdjjdj and you added anything to it like rom or 1 it wont work Oh wait you cant put it in a seperate file I believe it has to be in the download file no matter where you put it. Try putting it back where you got it from or maybe you cant do that now?

i can't remember. i just followed exactly what was on the how to guide on here.

I dont think so because you changed it it needs to be by itself nothing else the phone cant open up the folder and the rom at the same time.

so is there any way to get it by itself at this point? my 4 options are reboot system, apply update, wipe data, and wipe cache. i've already wiped data and cache

If your still in recovery go back to the main menu scroll down to installk zip from sd enter then go to internal sd enter and see if it is there if so you can flash from there

that's where i have been going. it does show up there and when i try installing from there it gives me the signature error. from main menu i go to "apply update from sdcard", then i go to the folder "rom", which is where i put the rom. eclipse is located there and i try to flash from there and i get the error

There isnt the option to go to internal sd? You need to somehow get it out of that file rom all by itself whatever you dont press reboot because you got nothing to go to now.

my main menu is:

reboot system now
"apply update from sdcard"
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

i go to "apply update from sdcard" and it goes into my sdcard. that is where i have folders like lost.dir/, dcim/, mp3/, and rom/. rom/ is where Bionic-Eclipse-v2.2.zip is.
