ESPN ScoreCenter

ESPN is owned by Disney. I think Steve Jobs/Apple are on the board of Disney, or at least they have a strong relationship. Didn't Jobs start Pixar, which Disney eventually bought? Anyway, Disney has supported Apple products, like the iPhone and iPad (anyone see the Modern Family episode dedicated to the iPad? Who owns ABC? Oh, yeah, Disney.).

Glad to see that Disney a company so heavily invested in Apple, is supporting Android now. I hope Apple doesn't flex its muscle with Disney/ABC/ESPN and cripple this app.

First impressions... This app is not very good...

The updates on the Widget are not smooth. They do not update unless you delete the widget and re-apply. The actual app itself is extremely slow and a battery drain. It also noticably caused the phone itself to turn very buggy (missing apps in the Drawer, widgets no longer update, heavy battery drain, phone overheating, etc).

Hope they come out with an update soon, but I'm tempted to uninstall. Not worth the bugs its causing my Droid.

My first impressions are that it really can't compete with ScoreMobile right now. I just find it slow and laggy. To be honest, it looks almost identical to the app that I used to have on my LG Voyager and earlier phones by Verizon. It was great back then, but a little outdated now.

Same experience.... buggy, caused beautifull home to disappear... then the reboots started..... Uninstalled.

Glad an ESPN app is finally here, but ScoreMobile blows it away as of now! I will keep both and hope to see updates.

This app has a long way to go before its great, and the actual app itself is pretty poor, but I am going to at least give the Worldwide Leader some credit for the widget. When it is working (and I'm still not 100% sure it does... but when it does) the score updates are pretty quick. In that one regard, it blows everything else away.

Granted, having been following how my Phillies are doing tonight against the Yanks, I almost wish it wasn't working... *sigh*

Yea I'm pretty disappointed with the initial release. I don't even know if they should get credit for anything because it took them so damn long to put this out. The app is slow, laggy, and all the app really does is connect you to their mobile site.

In the words of the ESPN men themselves, C'mon Man!

I hate that I have to keep going through several menus and submenus to add another team to "My Teams". They should have just used checkboxes, so I could, say, select more than one team from the list of NFL teams.

App could/should be alot better...

This app sort of sucked, sorry to say. Sticking with ScoreMobile.

@Beardface: yes, getting Phillies results has been painful this year. :(

Damn, dreadfully slow.. no intuitive features (i.e swiping the pages), extremely dissapointed they would even bother coming out with something like this. But at least we have it for now, and hopefully a mass amount of downloads will show ESPN how much we are all craving an awesome sports app. SportsTap it will remain for now, but I can only hope not for long..

has anybody found a way for this app to give score notifications?

One thing I liked about ST was it would give an audible notification when a team scored in a game I was following.. .this one updates very fast, but dosent give a notification that I can see/hear.

otherwise very good so far
