I cant go out on my wi fi tether, lappy connects, but nothing after that, and USB brings up the VZ page.

Thoughts?

so when i woke up this morning i had no data service (calls and texts worked fine though). i tried out this build earlier today and everything went fine except the theme i tried to apply caused a boot loop so i just went back to my nandroid backup. but now i the market, browser, and apps that require data dont work.... anyone know whats going on?

Any chance you have switchpro widget installed? The last update yesterday killed data connections - you have to add a widget with the data connection button to turn it back on. I spent like 6 hours yesterday wiping and reflashing before I looked at the market comments and found out about this.

I could just make an update.zip to install the original back.

If you get a chance it might be nice to have an update.zip file just in case. I'd be happy to put it in my downloads so if necessary I could get the market for any 2.2 updates.

After you install the market fix you can search for weather bug elite and it'll show up.

If you install the Remove_Market_fix_FRF84b-update.zip and search for weather bug elite it'll show only WeatherBug Locator.

And the market fix worked great, I found all of the things I was missing.

Man I read that and started panicking. I was reaching for my usb cord and hoping that was not true. Of course all I would have had to do was read your next post.....but man. I am not one who push the limits. But I tether here and there at most an hour a week.

unless you are going to pay for the broadband plan you will no longer be able to tether through the settings in your phone.

Just wire tether the way we did before froyo.....(pdanet/easytether).

Nope, I think it happened just to a few people. If you didn't wipe when you installed you're probably OK.

i did... quite thoroughly actually, adb wiped boot/system/cache/data, and so far no major issues, though i used titanium to restore apps... besides a few minor glitches, seems to be working great so far

If using the USB tethering in the settings is only available now if you pay Verizon of the mutating buildings and cars for the privilege I'm not surprised. Big V is a money hoover and we all know it.

I didn't use it anyway. Too many taps, too long to wait, and not enough options.

I use the USB tethering from here and other than having some issues with having to reboot my computer if I don't disconnect it properly if I wanted to reconnect (driver issues on XP), I've had nothing but a positive experience with it. I just put a shortcut on my home screen and I'm good to go. I don't see how they possibly could really track that without prying into your data useage in ways they shouldn't.

Haven't tried WiFi tethering yet. Will later tonight.

Tethering is a requirement for me because of where I live. I can get (crappy) cell service, but unless I want to pony up for satellite I'm SOL for anything but dialup. Not using Torrents is annoying, but the quest for a phone-based torrent client that doesn't cost more than it's worth is ongoing.

Oh, and trying to do a straight install over the Black Glass theme is a no-no. I got locked in the "droid" and "droid eye" bootloop. Never saw that before...

Oh, and I too miss the cubed app drawer/launcher. I may have to install a 3rd party app to get it back. Still, it wasn't coded the best (if you weren't lined up perfectly it wouldn't scroll) and it was probably WAY too much for stock speeds.

does anyone know where I can get just the kernel that is included with this rom. I FINALLY found a good freaking froyo kernel for my phone and want to know what it is so I can try some other roms based off this leak.
