Finally Solved My Battery Issue!

By default wifi turns off when the screen is off AND it uses less power than 3G so you want to use it when you can. GPS only comes on when an app/widget uses it (EXCEPT FOR THIS POSSIBLE DROID X BUG). Bluetooth doesn't use much juice either. I say try leaving them on and save yourself the headache. At least try it out.

Read my findings a few posts back about the increase in battery life after I toggled GPS off. It's the only change I made in the past couple of days and I'm at almost 40 hours now off the charger with the battery still showing 30% left. Turning GPS off when not using it definitely makes a difference...and I've had Bluetooth enabled that whole time as well.

What I'm trying to point out is that under normal circumstances, most people should leave GPS and wifi ON. Because there seems to be a droid x bug, people with droid x's should try turning off gps when not in use. Hopefully after the update, this will be fixed and people with droid x's can turn GPS back on and not worry about it.

I don't think we're disagreeing.

On the droid 1 you leave gps, wifi, bluetooth on. There's no reason to constantly toggle them. Just want to clarify what I feel is the proper/ recommended behavior.

This might have caused confusion. I was talking about the droid 1. On the droid x, it looks like maybe GPS shouldn't be left on. Hopefully the update will fix

Gotcha. I thought you were saying turning GPS off wouldn't make a difference on the X, but clearly that's not what you were trying to say. I still can't believe how long my battery is lasting after this one simple change. It would be nice if an update could provide this kind of battery life while leaving the GPS on, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
