If you have voodoo, open up app, temp un root..apply update.. open voodoo, reestablish root.
Utility:
Update phone, plug phone to computer.. follows steps to root...not sure how many steps there are but..I'd say root keeper is faster..
I have in the past accidentally forgot to temp unroot cuz got to excited about updating.. opened up voodoo and reestablished...I thought for sure I had lost root..but for whatever reason it wasn't broken..worst case scenerio..reroot using the utility.
So I received the update this morning OTA and just a few minutes ago tried the razr blade utility. After going through everything I tried opening superSU and gives me a message saying "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" Is something wrong or something I'm not doing correctly? I followed the directions perfectly I thought.
I also cannot seem to delete superSU app, i was going to delete out then try again, but didn't know if it wad a good idea to try again with it still installed.
Wow! Congrats! You've held off on rooting forever. We couldn't even talk you into it if we wanted to. We better watch out... 94lt1 is loose with root, lol!
Now what? The Christmas JB leak gave us something to talk about and to look forward to. Now the official JB update is here and people are updating left and right and posting their problems. What do we do in a few weeks/months from now when the excitement has worn off?? JB was what we were waiting for and it'll soon be a thing of the past. As far as I've read, there won't be any more updates. I guess we'll all have to wait until we have upgrades available and start all over with new phones. The razr and razr maxx will be like the original droid and the droid 2...things of the past. I remember when I got my first droid... the droid x. I thought it was awesome and then it got even better when it went from Froyo to GB and then to ICS. I guess we'll just have to keep watching the forum for newbies who are stuck or just new to droids.
There's always custom ROMS. As I recall the DROID went beyond official to GB. There is that locked bootloader
but that just restricts the kernel.
Although I haven't strayed far from official yet.
