Froyo Release Thread

I'm likely asking the same question that's already appeared in this thread, since I see a number of people complaining about CW as opposed to SPR...

I wiped data and cache and used CW to install Froyo, and immediately it went about downloading my apps on my behalf. It got most of them, I reboot, and they run and all... but it is SLOW. Sluggish. Much slower than Stock 2.1 for me. Like, I tap the menu button and it takes literally 3 seconds to appear.

Additionally I then tried to restore my apps and data using Titanium Manager, but it kept giving me "There was a problem parsing the package." If I install an app manually and then just restore the data with TI Manager, then the app Force Closes on every attempt to open it.

Is this just with the CW installation? Would SP Recovery would better?

ohioDroid, did you install SetCpu... choose auto-detect speeds, and bump up the speed? it may have defaulted on 250mhz or something

in SPR, when restoring into froyo, i got this:

Restoring...
Unpacking system image...

(done)

Is that normal? Bear with me 'cause I've never used SPR before...

Yup.....should be able to reboot and be in 2.2
reboot could take a few minutes and resyncing apps will take 10-15 mins
phone will run slow until the sync has been completed.

For everyone that have a problem with droid being sluggish, gotta install setcpu and max out mhz ondemand, that should do it

well so far I dont really like froyo

I cant get my customization back the way I like it. here's some pic's its stable and all this way but not colored the way I like and my audiowidget is really messed up thats without touching ti either thats how it transfered.

I need to learn to edit the text color to myspace and twitter so i can read it over a transparent background. Im not logged in to them when I took the screenshots.

No, I've never bought SetCPU as I never had an interest in overclocking. I could try Linpack and see what clock speed it was running, though.

After downloading the flash zip and installing it, I went to YouTube and when I tried to view a video in the browser it said I need to install the latest version of flash. And yes, I had flash enabled (enable plugins).

Works fine here using xscope.
How about in the stock browser? I rebooted and tried playing a YouTube video through the browser again and it said "You must upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video".

so to install a new kernal, i download to computer, change name to update.zip and move to sd card, reboot into recovery and run the update.zip?
