Ok you guys have me scared again. I really want the s3 but if it is going to crack in half while in my pocket then no.

If you want the S3, get the S3. As has already been said several times, the issue discussed in this thread is not widespread, or else there would be millions and millions of angry customers around the world. There is nothing to be scared about.

Dude... I hate samsung^^^^^ see that post up there?? :D

Think about this.. the people that post in forums are here with issues... right??

With that many s3's sold... if they ALL had issues... you wouldn't be able to log on because the servers would be crashed from being over ran..

You're safe to get an s3.. now.. I would put it in an otterbox defender... that's me though... everything I own goes in one.

You are more than welcomed to disagree with everyone, but unless you have facts to back up everything that you're saying, you're really bordering on trolling in this thread. This is not a widespread issue, and just saying it is doesn't make it one.

To everyone - Please keep the thread on topic and steer clear of trolling. Any further posts that take things off topic again, or that are nothing more than trolling remarks, will be deleted. This is a serious issue for some users, and it is something that should be discussed. But stirring up fear and uncertainty with absolutely no basis for doing so will not be tolerated.

I still hate Samsung :) :p

You can try to disguise your jealousy with hate, but it just doesn't work.

And that remark about staying on topic goes for moderators too. Don't make me report your post! :icon_ devil:

Dang it... lol. I already said that the reason I hate em is jealousy...they're doing what moto isn't... and I hate it lol

To stay on subject, I had a nice little drop onto some tile floor, nothing drastic but it had me worried. Not a single scratch, mark, or chip. Keep it in a nice little matte case with no screen protector (for now).

OK, now I'm getting involved. The senseless trolling and fanboy activity will stop now, or I will start handing out infraction points. This train has been derailed so many times in the last couple pages I've lost count.

This is my first and last warning. Next stop is infraction central.

I appreciate that most S3 users are not having an issue with this and I'm one of the unlucky few; however, it still is a real issue to those of us that are experiencing this. It's very disheartening to save your money to purchase a phone - which I would love to own - only to have it crack in less than 24 hours of owning it. Also, pretty unsettling when you try to explain that you didn't drop it; that it had a screen protector; that it was in a case, etc. Then, everyone involved - vendors, Samsung say they've never heard of the issue. Well, now I've told you and presented you with documentation of the other "few" people having the same issue. Luckily for me, I have insurance but still have to shell out additional money to cover the deductible to cover replacing a phone that I DIDN'T DAMAGE:angry:

I am reading all these posts on cracked screens for S3s and it had me worried (just got mine last week and am THRILLED by it!). Just a thought, throwing it out there, it seems a lot of people use these very tight cases on their new phones. I'm wondering if this doesn't cause stress on the very thin frame of the S3 and if using a case on ones S3 isn't counter-productive.

I'd considered buying something but first thought I'd only get something that was softer rubber and now I'm thinking of not getting anything at all.

Which is why I said this is a serious issue that should be discussed. :)

I was referring to some posters who have been making off-topic and/or trolling remarks. Those who actually have legitimate information or perspectives on the issue being discussed are more than welcome to post about it.
