Galaxy S4 Battery Life?

When my daughter came home, she plugged her phone in to recharge it to 100%. After about 3-1/2 hours, it was down to 30%. Her screen usage was at 49%, she has it set to auto brightness and Android system battery usage was around 30%. She was connected to WiFi, and I have no idea what is killing her battery so fast. I know inside the house, our phones will constantly switch between 3G and 4G. But by comparison, my Note II screen usage is at 10%.

Maybe turn off Mobile Data while connected to wifi?

I just redirected my phone today. Charged it up to 100 percent and have pretty much been setting it up and messing with it all day so from about 430pm to now it is already down to 18 percent. ..I think that is okay considering I have been using it practically the full 7 hours almost. I hope it does better tomorrow when I am not using it as much.

Not sure if this is well known, but does WiFi or 4G use more power? I know it would depend on multiple factors like distance of transmission and so on, but maybe there are some simplified charts somewhere that detail the energy required to receive/transmit both types of signals for comparison?

Ive always heard that wifi is better. I am on it 80% of the day and at least in my personal use it is better on my battery and I live in an area with a strong LTE connection.

Interesting, thanks. Anyone else have more info?

I noticed my battery dropped a lot while I was sleeping, not really sure what it is, but here's a pic:
BatteryUsage5-25-13%281%29.png

As you can see there was a large drop off with a lot of screen time right before I went to sleep, and then again near the end when I got up. I don't know why either of those times drained so much since I had the screen exceptionally dim the whole time.
But as you can see there's a fairly steady ramp down throughout the night.
Usage percentages from the other screen are:
Android System - 74%
Screen - 17%
Device idle - 2%
Android OS - 2%

So it seems I need to seriously find out what's running the system so hard. Also, what does the big green block in Mobile network signal mean, and what's the standard tan compared to it?
Thankfully the phone charges pretty quickly, but I definitely don't expect drops to be that drastic during some light use and while sleeping.
Please advise!

LTE consumes more battery than wifi. I get way better battery on my HD with wifi than straight LTE

Me and my GF got ours on Thursday. Iv been very impressed with mine so far. Yesterday i unplugged it around 7 am. If i remember right after about 15 hours is was down to 33%. I wasnt really using it heavy yesterday. But compared to my last phone its pretty damn good. On the other hand my Gfs phone hasn't been quite as good. Yesterday it drained quite a bit quicker than mine. Today we both took them off the charger around 830 am. As of 230 pm my phone is still at 85%. While hers was around 55%. So Iv been trying to figure out why mine has been so much better than hers. If i find out the reason Ill post it here. Iv played with a couple settings. So hopefully something will fix it.

Should the phone alert me when the battery is fully charged? It says 100% but the LED light stays red and I do not get any verification it is fully charged.

Edit: Scratch that, turns out I am just a little impatient. I get a green light and a "Charged" text on the lock screen.

Yep, that happened to me too. Was at 100% but led was still red. Just had to wait a little longer. lol

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions from my post on the previous page?
Is there some way I can get that system usage down?

Thanks I'll give it a shot.
What exactly does "Awake" mean on that graph? Surely the phone is always "awake" so it can receive calls and texts, so what's the difference?

When there's certain activity going on, it wakes even when phone is idle... Sometimes they're unwanted wakes so that app should tell you if you have abnormal stuff going on...

I got mine around 1:30pm on Thursday, had about 45% battery, and killed it by 11pm with pretty moderate usage getting it set up, apps downloaded, texting and a couple of quick 10 min phone calls. Put it on the charger over night, and pulled it off the charger around 9:30 am, continued playing with it to finalize setting it up and learn some of the new features. Sent/received around 600 texts, about an hour and 20 minutes of talking on the phone, half of that via bluetooth. About 3 minutes of web browsing, took 6 pictures with it, did have it hooked up to my laptop to push ringtones, pictures and some app data onto it. Finally went into the orange on the battery around 3:30 am, sent a few more texts and then set it on the charger until 10am this morning. So far I have sent/received 92 texts, and talked on the phone for about an hour and 27 minutes (that was a one call phone call) and I am at 88%. So, I guess time will tell.

Mine does the same thing; Build in Battery indicates Android System high at 60%. However GSam Battery Monitor has App Usage at 44.3%, Kernel at 15.6 and Android System at 8.7%. So not sure what is going on, but I have the feeling some app is eating my battery. The first day I got it and downloaded all the apps, setup, etc. it seemed to be much better on battery.
