GB official release?

I updated to the GB leak.

If you are rooted and have bootstrap installed, it is actually very easy. Just use bootstrap to backup the phone, and then use it to install the .zip file from recovery mode.

Reboot the phone, clear the cache, reboot again, done.

Looks better, runs faster, very happy with it so far...

My phone is stock out of the box. At sometime I might root it. But not until I understand what is what with they system and understanding the language.
thanks for your help. I see in your avatar a sport bike. I used to ride an Aprilia tuono and did many track days. But some cager took me out in Oct 08 and left me with a ton of hardware in the right leg. So much for full gear. Noe I just putt arounf on my Harley streetglide. but I will have another real bike shortly..

Aprilia makes a great bike. The avatar is my DUcati Streetfighter, which I unfortunately had to sell last month due to being unemployed. I do have a 2007 Yamaha FZ1 with race suspension, brakes, exhaust, tuning, the works.

If you are not experienced in what steps are required to put a different rom onto your phone DON'T! Wait for the official Verizon push upgrade to Gingerbread. I will tell you that the 'leaked' rom of Gingerbread is unbelievable. It's stable, fast and has some very nice upgraded features. I have it on my Droid X but would sure like Verizon to push their upgrade to this OS ASAP so i can fully enjoy it on my phone.

I'm also pretty new to all of this. I've had my x since around Oct of last year, but have never rooted it. I need to do my homework so I can understand what you guys are talking about because SBK, OTA, and bootstrap are like chinese to me haha!

I am fairly "smart" and I'm pretty good with computers. I do computer repair on the side and have built my pc so I'm sure I could do it if I had some good instructions. I've been really happy with my phone though and haven't had a good enough reason to convince me to root it. About the only reason other than the GB leak would be the option to get rid of the Verizon pre-installed apps like car dock, skype, and blockbuster which always run even though I never use them

~smoother faster phone
~customization, themeing
~undervoltage for better battery life, or overclock for pwnin newbs
~not look like a total tool using stock motoblur. Your no better then an apple user if your a android user running without root/rom.


people i work with have stock droid x's are are too dumb to root/rom and then ***** that apple makes a way better product with the iphone

Not everyone running stock is too STUPID to root/rom. That is a very BAD statement and shows ignorance by making it!!!!

Yea zombie. The main reason I haven't rooted is because I never found a convincing reason to. I could have rooted it already if I had a good reason to. The reason I don't know the terminology is because I've never looked into it. I could do a little research and learn all of these terms. Anyone can use Google. Not like I have anything to prove to anyone, but I am far from stupid lol. I'm good with computers and I'm a machinist, and you can't be stupid and be a machinist lol

I rooted and ROM'd my OG Droid with several different ones (Team Black Hat, and others). Got bored with the constant resets due to instability of the ROM's. I went back to stock right before I got my Droid X. My Droid X out of the box blew away everything that was ever on my OG Droid.

I don't see the need to deal with the instability of "adjusted themes" since there is no real ROM's for the Droid X due to the locked boot loader. It runs great stock, and I prefer to leave it that way.

This does not make me stupid as you suggested in your prior post, it makes me content with my device as it is. I have MUCH better things to do with my time than dorking around with different theme's and constant issues because of those theme's.
