GDE is simply amazing...take a look.

Last night I opened up my menu and in the "All Applications" section I was getting 2, 3 or 4 pictures of the same app. For instance, 2 FB pictures, 3 MixZing Lite pictures, 4 Where's my Droid Pictures, etc, etc. It was for nearly every app I had. I let my phone batter die (because I'm trying to "train" it) and then plugged back in during the night. When I looked early this morning everything was still the same with multiple pictures for the same app. I looked just now and everything seems to be normal. Any idea why?

I know the developer checks out these sites so hopefully he sees this. He has been great at bringing updates (I think there were 2 in the past couple of weeks).

I can't seem to find an answer to this. Sorry if its been posted and I missed it.

The video was great, first of all... I'd be interested in giving this a shot myself. I like the default setup well enough to use it as is, but I've been interested in trying to configure it differently to suit my liking better. The options are truly endless with the Droid! I love it.

Been trying this out for the past few days. Way too laggy for constant use atm. Switching to home++ until this gets updated to be stable and not buggy/slow. All the bells and whistles aren't worth it if it isn't functional. To the people saying its a problem with other apps, I have no problems with default home or home++.

^^
Certain apps/widgets might play nice with certain Home Replacements but not with others.

Just for example, lemme demonstrate:
IE: iMusic Widget, WikiTune might crash on GDE and not on OpenHome or Panda
IE: SMS popup might crash on Openhome but not GDE or Panda

So just because your apps run on one doesn't necessarily mean the home replacement is the problem, it just may be that home app 1 is coded differently than home app 2 invoking different method and classes which a poorly designed widget/app happens to also use.

Just to illustrate a hypothetical example:

Ie: OpenHome might never use the ScreenTransition() Class (hypothetical piece of code that makes the screens fade), so if you have an app/widget that uses that ScreenTransition() piece of code, the 2 programs are never trying to use that code at the same time, hence no crashes, that app runs on OH.

GDE however may user the ScreenTransition() Class, so if you try to add that app/widget to GDE, they may both be trying to use the same bit of code at the same time. If both programs aren't coded correctly to handle this type of collision, than it will crash. This app may not play nice with GDE.

So whether you place the blame on the Home Replacement App or the App/Widget your running, it's kind of a "which came first, the chicken or the egg" kinda question.

Really find a HRA that runs the widgets you use, it's a matter of fine tuning really.

How do I re-enable gde? Had it before but switched back to the normal home screen. When I hit home it doesn't offer me to choose my home screen. How can I get it to ask me which home screen I would like to use like it did before?

I can't remember.... I installed "home switcher".... really nice prog for free.

Is it possible to put a different picture on each screen. Thanks.

Normally people are putting pics that are 960 X 854px.....
I don't know if you could go into photoshop and put two pics side by side each being 854 X 480 so that it shows one pic on one slate and the other one other page.

Of course if you had 4 pages, you would still have that twice.

Just a theory.. I haven't tried it.

I just got my Droid (first Android phone).
After a day of playiing with it as is out of the box I just downloaded GDE to my Droid...
I have a few questions:

1. I chose 2 Applications Docks and would like to know how I can get the apps to organize in alphabetical order?
Now they are all over the place in respect to the order in the dock
Agile is after Contacts and Gmail, and so on.

2. In the youtube vid:
GDE - The new home experience! v0.1.8.2 Application for Android | Tools

I noticed the the author had a calendar set in monthly view. When i try to get a widget set it only puts the calendar icon on the screen, and not the calendar open in either day or month.
Is that a stock app or 3rd party?

3. As well I love the weather layout and again tried the weatherbug widget it is smaller (trying the larger of the 2 options) and didn't offer a option to setup like the one in the video.
Are these 3rd party of not available for the Droid?

GREAT app though first one I purchased
Thanks
