Thunderbolt activation problems

I got my GF a new thunderbolt. She got it in the mail today. After an hour on the phone with Vzw tech. No activation. They say its the sim card? Has anyone else here had an issue with this?

Just some questions

A few questions about apps.

How do you actually close an app? Does it close when you hit the home screen or do you have to close it some other way?

Is there a way to check what apps are running in the background? What is considered the "bloatware"

Battery Questions

Do you think there will be a better slimmer battery coming out? (bigger than 1600mah because 1600mAh doesn't sound like much of an improvement.)

My experience getting it.

I got my tb from bestbuy and the guy put the sim card in for me. I also bought the thunderbolt with the screen cover pre-installed so I wouldn't have to deal with potential bubbles. In my opinion it was worth it.

Thanks

1. Unless the App has a Specific Exit or Shut off, hitting the Return key usually closes the app. That's the one that looks like a left arrow.

2. To see what apps run in the background go to Settings --> Applications --> Running Services. That said, HOLY WOW. lol. Compcache should be handy here, lol.

3. The bloatware is unwanted programs that Verizon won't let you uninstall. Such as Slacker Radio, that golf program, and other crap.

4. I sure hope so. Still, I'm getting pretty good results with all the syncing off, still at 100% battery.

I know this, when I got my Thunderbolt yesterday morning about 4-5 people couldn't activate their Thunderbolts. But it started working as soon as I got mine. The Verizon reps were saying how the activation system was being overloaded.

You should be able to get a new sim card from any VW store. Hope one is near you. Back in the day when I had T-Mobile, I had to replace several sim cards cuz they went bad or stopped working.

Sucks that I have to return my phone today. I have a really nice screen protector I bought from sgp steinhill protectors..do you guys think they will reimburse me for the loss of the protector?

Just my .02 ....

- Phone is fast as hell, very smooth, and overall super easy and conenient to use.
- 4G is super fast in the NY area (at least for now). 18 down & 42 Up. http://www.speedtest.net/android/38854039.png

- It is heavy (I'm waiting for the results of the first dropped thunderbolt), and ofcourse the battery life is an issue.
- Bloatware is out of control. Even when I used Advance Task Killer, the Apps magically reopen after a minute or two.
- I wish there was another way to activate the phone besides the top left buttom. Its so small and recessed its a pain to get to. I feel bad for people with fat fingers!

Phone dialer in Landscape mode

I have been mostly pleased with everything about this phone so far, but one thing that is just driving me nuts is that they put a kick stand on it, but not all of the screens will go into landscape mode. The one thats got me most puzzled is the dialer. I set the phone up on my desk with the kickstand to be able to see whos calling, and everything comes in sideways. Even when the phone is in the car cradle and everything else is in landscape, the phone isnt.

Does anyone know of a setting Im missing, or an aftermarket program to make that work?

Thanks

Did your droid do landscape? Mine never did the dialer landscape. So in the car, it was always sideways.

That said, the home screens for me won't go sideways either, I just asked that same question in another thread.

Fast boot

Fast boot does not work for me..
Is anyone else having issues with the fast boot?

Someone said it could be taking longer because its searching for 4g coverage, which as of now, I don't have.

If you have 3g only and it works for you, or if you have 4g coverage and it doesn't work, I'd like to hear about it.

Actually I just double checked my Droid x and the dialer and home screens both go into landscape.
