It works.
This information should not be kept hidden; Motorola will fix the vulnerability and then someone else will find another one for the next update. Whether a new rooting technique is discovered and shared or discovered and kept a secret, the only difference it makes is the pointless frustration in the mean time.
I can't think of any reason that those who are stuck unable to use their device to its full potential should have to wait for a way to obtain root permissions if a method is available, strictly for the sake of preserving the effectiveness of that technique which will likely be rendered ineffective by the next update anyway.
Yikes. Someone's getting firedthere's something like, 60 towers down right now
Following the instructions in the first post. The only difference is that you have to download the 208 kernel. Unzip the Unstuck ICS zip folder. Inside is another folder called "files". What you have to do is rename the 208 kernel file to "boot206" and place it in the "files" folder to replace the existing boot206 file. Of course you also have to download and place in the sd-ext the full 208 leak file. After downloading it you have to unzip it and you must copy Blur_Version.6.13.219.XT894.Verizon.en.US.zip to your external sd card.
When you get to the step where you're supposed to flash the kernel it will give you the choice to flash 206 or 219. Choose 206 and it will use the 208 kernel that you put in the "files" folder.
It's near the bottom of the first page.
Here are the new instructions for 208:
7. Select Fastboot to .181 (.219) in the Utility & follow the onscreen directions. You will see a lot of Fail messages and it will take around 10 minutes to complete.
It will hang for a bit, just keep waiting. Eventually it will finish.
