Getting a new phone soon, having a hard time making a decision...please help

Hello, new to the Droid world, trying to decide which way to go. I got suckered by good reviews of the Samsung Rogue a year ago, and find it unusable in daylight, so I don't want to make another mistake. Thought I would like the Incredible, but now wonder if a slide out keyboard would be better.

Q: 1. I can buy the Incredible online for around $50 - why go to Verizon ($150.)or Costco ($129)? What is the downside other than the loss of a 30 day exchange option?
2. What about outside readablity of the D2 and Incredible with LCD screen in dayight?

Any backlit LCD screen will wash out in daylight. Some are more susceptible than others.

As for question 1 I can suggest the following. Print out whatever price you're getting and go to go an independent VZW retailer and see if they'll pricematch.

Hopefully this ends the threadjack unless the OP doesn't mind. :)

I saw price tiers somewhere, maybe 50 bucks for 5 gigs, 80 for 8 gigs? Does that sound right? It was definitely more money and NOT unlimited. I'm a cheapskate, so I am happy to be locked into my DX contract for 2 years.

Wow, well if the new 4G phones are going to have fees and extra costs like that, I'm just going to go ahead and mark that off of my list... lol :/

I've really been considering just going with the Droid 2 Global, but rooting the phones does seem interesting and something that I might do eventually, but I don't know. I could probably live without rooting it, though.

You might want to consider rooting then too. I believe I've seen more support for the DX in that regard. After that, I'm not sure which is the most modded phone (excluding the OG Droid of course.)

So, there's not any chance the Droid 2 Global will ever be rootable?

4G = $$$ = so fast your eyebrows will catch fire.

Eh, I'm sure 4G will be faster..it's just I'm sure I won't be able to afford any more extra charges than what we have now.

The D2G is rooted and ROM'd now... But there's no SBF to return it to stock when things screw up (and they do, a LOT).

For me, that would definitely influence my decision. Root is risky. You want the ability to at last try and fix if things go wrong. I've witnessed the great people on this forum help many people out of a sticky situation, but you need the support. I'm sure the sbf is coming, just not here yet.
