I think my biggest problem is that once this succeeds then a Droid X/2 will suddenly be worth a lot more second-hand and I can't afford one NOW.

Nah. Once this succeeds, DX will be near EOL (that's true even if we reached 100% completion today!). However, once this succeeds, then we will move to other locked devices. And we have plans for creating and launching a cloud-based framework to quickly add additional locked devices to our "net". We're going to call it SkyNet. Actually, just kidding about the cloud-based thing and the name, but we will begin to create a framework to make this much more universally applicable to other devices. THAT is where the real value is in this project!
Dx may near end of life soon but it is the only model with unlocked hdmi. I bet moto fixed that for atrix/bionic/dx2. It will be lkke this until a new unlock is found other models.
So even if dx is slower it will still hold a following because of the hdmi port.
Just imagine having a tablet with unlimited data. Thats what dx hdmi can give you. Even more so if cm7 port finishes with mouse support

Furbear why is it a small tablet? I can go buy a 10 inch hdmi screen right now and run android off that movies browser homescreen. Im just limited in control. The droid screen goes blank when using hdmi

That's in the same category as hooking up a keyboard and stand and turning a traditional tablet into a VERY expensive netbook. But you're right.

Sorry, folks.I've been thinking about emailing someone at Motorola about getting the Droid X unlocked at EOL. Any ideas on who the email should be sent to and what reasons for unlock should be in it?
ROM Development, prolonged enjoyment of the phone, steady users. Idk lol would be nice if they did this though, even if its given to one of the developers directly, because then at least we can expect to see something.
