Getting Custom Kernels Running on the Droid X

You could point out that their own devs "borrowed" code from the ROM developers to try to get an update for the Cliq, but I don't think that would get you any ingress with them.

Why don't we get somesort of a thread going where everyone posts their name and we can email the list to Motorola asking to unlock it at EOL. A petition kind of.

I've been thinking about emailing someone at Motorola about getting the Droid X unlocked at EOL. Any ideas on who the email should be sent to and what reasons for unlock should be in it?

Stupid question! For sure we will have a Gingerbread Leak rom for our Droid X?
If not it will be a good decision take it HTC Incredible?

I don't see Motorola abandoning their flagship phone without pushing it to 2.3. However, I don't know if there will be a leak before the OTA push. Leaks are dependent on someone risking their job. :)

Has he been able to root the 2.3 X?

Is there even any official word that the X will get 2.3?

Who needs official? P3Droid has has the gingerbread updates for the X, D2G, and Droid Pro for weeks. According to him, there will be no Droid 2 gingerbread update.

Unfortunately no. Moto implemented some new method of blocking root access, and he nor I or anyone else have been able to even figure out how moto is blocking it, let alone how to hack it. Its only a matter of time though, we'll have root eventually :)

I would hope so. ;) And I have faith in the developers. :D dancedroiddancedroiddancedroid

Actually its the new Linux kernel. It fixes the security flaws that we used to elevate to root.
