Gingerbread Leaked!

How do we get in CWM recovery? Droid 2 bootstrap does not reboot to recovery. Should we bootstrap again after the install?

i downloaded the file and changed the name of it to update.zip and placed it on my sd card, but every time i try to apply the update in recovery it fails. what am i doing wrong?

I'm running the GB leak now and its running fine. not rooted.
Can I SBF back to 2.4.29 then get the 2.4.330 update OTA.
Then Flash TBH GB update.zip(s) to gain root access?

TBH says you need to be running 2.4.330 rooted to flash their version of GB thats rooted and it has to be flashed from CWR....

What I'm worried about is going back to Froyo 2.2 after updating to GB 2.3

any thoughts from the experts?

Running the rooted TBH release. Baseband - 1.79.00R, so newer. GSM signal strenght indicator isn't fixed - still shows 1-2 bar like before. We'll see how is mobile disconnects now.

But the GSM signal strenght is worst than on 2.4.29? I mean is it the same as in 2.4.33, therefore worst than in 2.4.29?

No - signal strength indicator works same on all 3 - stays on 1-2 bars on 3G (2G always full bar). Interestingly speed test app says slightly faster speeds than I have usually seen before. Signal strength indicator doesn't bother me. What bothers me if radio disconnects I had with older firmwares. So far no disconnects - everything has been working normally. But let's see how it goes in time.

Is there a tutorial on how to install the rooted gb leak using the TBH app?

It is very simple:

1) flash back to SBF 2.4.330 (or 2.4.29 and then OTA to 2.4.330) - you must be on 2.4.330 in order GB leak to be able to install
1.5) if you are not on stock rom - perform factory data reset at this point from stock recovery (reboot phone holding X key)
2) root using z4root and install droid2bootstrap application then boot-strap recovery (so you get CWM recovery installed)
3) using TBH application (which you can obtain from TBH web site), download the two stage installation - it is 2 zip files - one 100MB an one smaller - 8-9MB
4) using droid2bootstrap app reboot phone in CWM recovery\
5) chose install zip from sdcard and select stage 1 (the bigger file you downloaded from TBH)
6) without restarting the phone - install the other zip from the TBH leak just like you did the first one
6.5) do factory reset - this is optional, but I think worth it to start clean with the Gingerbread.
7) reboot the phone
8) enjoy :)

Can anyone give a statement on battery life? Gingerbread was supposed to include some battery life fixes, and I want to know if it actually made a difference.

I am very pleasantly surprised with battery life so far - Since unplugged today phone lost 3% (1.5 hours) - this as per circle battery (stock is on 10% steps). Stock still says 100% And I am checking email social networking/etc. Display has been on for 6 minutes. Under same circumstances with old 2.2 I was already down under 95% (usually happens within the first 30 minutes after unplugging. This is with all services enabled - 3G data, push, twitter, facebook, yahoo and gmail syncing, GPS on.

I will see down the road (the time) how it goes, but I feel there is improvement. Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon :)

edit: One note tough: I have disabled Verizon Backup assistant from running. Since I am not on Verizon network and this thing constantly runs, before on 2.2 I noticed sensible difference in battery life after disabling it. Now I disabled it right off the box. Just FYI.
