Google I/O Announces Google Music Player 3.0 is Available in the Market

I'm on a gingerbread ROM, if that matters.
Me too--CM7 nightlies. Which ROM are you running?

GPA15 from the Bugless forums. Is CM7 an AOSP ROM?

I wonder if there is a link to the guys who had to disable/freeze/uninstall the old Music app to install the new one and CM7?

Brandon
CyanogenMod does indeed start with AOSP, then adds secret sauce of one flavor or another. GLInfo (in the market) reports I'm running OpenGL ES-CM 1.1. I'm guessing yours might say OpenGL ES 2.0. The "CM" in there is no doubt the CyanogenMod rev of 1.1. I'm thinking it's mostly a build error--the D1's hardware supports 2.0, but they (mistakenly, I hope) included the 1.1 library (useful for older phones that don't support 2.0).

Hoping they can get that changed.

I downloaded GL Info and I think I'm running the same version you are:

Maybe it's something else?

D'oh! Amazing. This page:

Installing the Music Beta player for Android devices - Music Help

Says this:

"Your device must be running Android 2.2 and above with OpenGL2.0"

Which would make sense why the UI wouldn't work, and therefore why they wouldn't support sync as well (maybe).

Hrm...

Maybe I'll try uninstalling then freezing the old Music app and reinstall.

Thanks for doing that!

So...NEVERMIND! I just reopened Music again, prior to uninstalling it, to see if maybe it finally figured it out (I'd installed it yesterday evening, by this AM it still wasn't working), and now I get the invite to sync.

Reckon their servers are busy with all the new signups.

Ha... well at least it works now. I probably opened the music app before a large portion of the people had received invites, and that may be why mine worked right away.

Brandon

Sweet! Got my invite late last night. Uploading music is terribly slow but that may be the fault of my computer. Anyway, about half my library is up and works flawlessly from my og droid running bugless beast 6.2.1.

Music app couldn't find my account at first, so I uninstalled it, re-installed it and was good to go. Loving this so far.

This is also why quadrant runs badly on Droid running CM7. The Music app isn't good until you get the invite, so just cross that bridge when you get there. I'm sure CVPCS will have a fully functional CM7 before most of you get the Music invite.

Did you guys start seeing your music on your phones even when the uploading was still in progress? Or do I need to just wait until all my music is uploaded before I can expect to see any music show up on my droid.

I have the latest update for the music app, installed under the same google account as the invite I received, but no settings in the music app and no "sync music" settings under accounts and sync.

Okay, so was having the problem of it not showing up. Figured out what it was.

You need to make sure the app totally closes. Which the only way that I know is an app killer or rebooting the phone. After trying to get it working for 30 minutes of googling I killed the app and started again and it will prompt you at startup if you want to sync!

Using the OG droid and it either says package not signed or failed to download. PLEASE PLEASE someone help.

Uninstall google music, them reinstall. You should have settings in your menu after this to select your google account and syncing will begin immediately.
