Google Maps Log In

after downloading google maps, im having issues logging in. when i open it it says "login failed". then it brings me to a google login screen and i put my id and password and it says the google account already exists on this phone. any suggestions?

I think the latest Google Maps update is AFU. The Latitude arrows shift the map to all different places that have no meaning on my Droid2. Strange behavior since this morning's update.
