Google Maps?

1. Restore your phone using your latest nandroid.
2. use Root Explorer and delete the /system/apps/Maps.apk (mount system R/W before, and don't forget to mount it R/O when done)
3. REBOOT
4. go to Settings > Mange Applications > Filter All > find the com.google.android.maps (something like that - turn phone in landscape so you can read the long names) and long press it and Unintall
5. REBOOT again
6. Go to Market and get Maps.

I will do that later I'm not messing up my phone before I go on the plane lol thanks for the help guys

Sounds like your phone is already screwed up. LOL

I know when I was trying to flash the latest Smoked Glass ROM I had the zip file downloaded and uncompressed it on the phone. It used the wrong file extension of .tar instead of .tgz. SPRecovery recognized it and unpacked it and installed it anyhow. But all the wrong options and wrong kernel. The phone booted though. Looked like it worked. But I lost 3G completely. It was like it was operating in analog mode. And I could not get into the market place...could not log into my Google account. I could surf some web pages...just couldn't get into anything secure.

Follow the above steps from HUMPA. It will make your world clean again.

Hello, all.

I noticed a difference with Google Maps since upgrading to ICS....

With GB, the location icon (blue triangle) was always present and rotated with phone orientation change (even when stationary).

Now, with ICS, the location icon is a blinking blue dot (when stationary) that changes to the directional blue triangle only when in motion; reverting to blue dot when you stop. I miss the directional blue triangle that rotates with phone orientation when at a stopped position.

Also...

What should be checked for the most accurate positioning?...

- Google location services.
- Standalone GPS services.
- VZW location services.

Thank you.

The only thing I check is standalone and that gets me within 3 meters moat of the time.

That is good enough for me, and I usually turn it off when I am done. Not to save battery life, just don't want the aliens tracking my movements.

That I am not sure of, I used it the other day but didn't notice.

Let me go run around my house and see what happens. :)

I always carry a tin foil hat 94, never know when you might need it.

Yep same thing with mine, blue dot and the pulsating circle around it while stopped.

Then while moving I get the blue arrow.

LOL...Mental picture of Sydman on a Saturday night, out in his yard, walking in circles with a tin foil hat, staring at his cell phone!
