Google Pixel 7

In fiddling around with it some more, if I long hold/press in between the contact's icon badge and the left edge of the message bubble, iMessage reactions appear and the message bubble is highlighted. Then up above in the 3-dot menu options are there, including Forward. This is a new way to highlight the message bubble, at least for me.

Here's a code for 100 dollar store credit with purchase of P7 series or 6a if anyone is interested. I will get an equal credit as well.

I have one of those also and could not find anyone I know that wanted a new phone. Bummer.

The long hold function works in most any other app that I've tried this morning to copy to clipboard, or long pressing on the calendar app to bring up options. When I try in the Google Messages app to copy a message the message just kind of jitters and no other response. No options come up and the message doesn't highlight so that I can go into the 3 dot menu to forward like in the past. Maybe I will uninstall and reinstall??
I have seen this since my Pixel 4XL. It's intermittent for me, sometimes works fine and other times it's like you said: long press and no options appear. Group texts seem to cause the issue more often than SMS texts. I have also found that when I cannot copy if I close all open apps from the recent menu and then open Messages again, long press to copy works.

Ok, I have had the 7 Pro for almost a week now, so I thought I would post my thoughts. For reference, I am coming from the S10+, which I loved. It was an excellent phone, and almost 4 years in it can still hang with phones of today.

As I mentioned before, I started with the regular Pixel 7. I wanted a smaller phone with a flat screen. I really, really liked it, but I felt there were some things that needed improvement. I did not feel the screen was quite as good as my S10+. The speakers also were not quite as good as the 10+. The camera did not have the ability. to take close-up pictures. As much as I loved the phone, it felt more like a side step for me, so I ended up returning it.

Ultimately, I decided to try the pro with a little help from the black Friday deals. So far I love it, and (sadly) decided to send in my S10+ for a trade-in. Here are my thoughts so far:

-Screen: Screen is lovely and I feel it is a pretty solid screen. The LTPO makes a difference in my eyes over the rigid OLED of the 7. It has taken some getting used to the more natural color calibration (I was a fan of Samsungs poppy colors), but I am getting there. Early on I felt there were some scrolling issues (scrolling seemed sticky, an issue I noticed on my regular 7 as well). This seems to have worked itself out though.

-Screen curve: I hate curved screens, mainly because they make screen protectors difficult. I ended up springing for one of the ones that uses glue and UV curing (Ni-shen is the brand). It is actually really solid, and feels like the screen itself. I have to admit that the lessened curve is nice and gives it a premium feel, with a nice added touch with gestures. Totally worth it.

-Speakers: Speakers are great and are on par with the S10+.

-Camera: Camera is very solid, and I like having the close-up features. Telephoto lens is pretty cool.

-Battery: Battery had been really solid and seems to be getting better as I go along. I think adaptive battery is learning. I actually like that it has the ability to slow (adaptive) charge to help battery life.

-Size: The pro is a beast, no way around it. I am getting used to it, and a thinner (Ringke) case helps. I still wish they would make a smaller pro phone.

-Processor: The processor is solid, and blows the S10+ out of the water. I really have enjoyed the experience. I still have to test call reception, but so far it seems pretty good. Probably a bit better than the S10+.

In the end, I guess I am a pro user, which I didn't think I was. For me, the pro is a decent enough of a step up from the regular 7 to warrant the extra dollars. One thing I did not discuss was the software, which is excellent. From the smooth user experience to the cool features like call screening, it really is enjoyable to use. I actually feel the phone is a lot like the Nexus phones, which I guess it kind of is. It really reminds me a lot of the Nexus 6P, except with the advancement of hardware and software, and without the problems.

Excellent breakdown with your thoughts and comparisons…I enjoyed my Note 10+ was a great phone …I’d love to add a little more customization to the Pixel line like Samsung …otherwise it’s those Pixel extras that are a joy to use daily ..

I'm sorry my friend, I didn't catch this part of Pchain's post. I didn't mean to step on your toes there. I have a pretty good way to find someone to use your code if you are interested.[emoji4]

Thanks!:) I am with you. There are a couple things that I would really like to see on the Pixel. The biggest on is the edge drawer. I miss that a lot. Samsung has built a lot of capabilities into their phones that the Pixels don't have, such as bluetooth connections with multiple devices, and screen mirroring/dex. I do miss some of that. It is all a game of give and take, and I think in the end boils down to preference. I really do like a lot of things about Samsung and feel they have some of the best phones out there. To me they are kind of the hardware gold standard in the Android world.

I find it interesting that I get this update, more than once now, with what appears to be no change. Anyone else?

Yea that is odd. Just checked and no update here. Maybe compare version numbers, see if it changes??
