Really? Is skype 100% free on our phones? Again. I proly sound like a legit noob, its just that i dont trust a lot od the stock apps sometimes cuz im afraid of Verizon charging you to use them or something...

When using Google talk i can do a video chat with my daughter in her Asus Transformer from my Gnex but can't get one going my buddies Samsung Charge. Why not? Both have front facing cameras. But the charge doesn't even show the icon for video or voice chat. And i don't have the option to voice or video chat on my Gnex to him either. Is there something in settings i need to change on the charge?

I looked but didn't see anything about that feature. Is there a setting for it and if so is it in the Google Talk settings?

No, it is where you click on your name to change the status...there should be a box there to "allow video / voice chats"...otherwise, is the Charge modded? There was an issue when some of the first ROMs were released, it broke the video feature - you had a flash a fix. I haven't used my Charge in sometime but I would assume this has been fixed but they could be running an older version of gTalk...
 
Charge is 100% stock. Maybe it is bc it's an older version bc i don't see anything where you said to look. But thank you for your help.

You are welcome - hopefully you will find a fix...

I am not 100% sure - but the Charge may not support video chat on the STOCK ROM...which would be why you are not finding the setting...

I found this "how to" as well.

The Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX features a front facing camera which can be used for self portraits and can also used with applications that support video chat conferencing.Chatting by video using Google Talk

If your friends use Google Talk on a computer, tablet, or other device with a microphone or camera that can connect to Talk, and they make themselves available for it, you can chat with them by video.​
Invite a friend to a video chat

  1. Touch the Video icon to the right of your friend's name in the Friends list.Your friend receives a video chat invitation. If your friend accepts your invitation, the video chat window opens, filling the screen.
    During a video chat you can:
    • Touch the screen to reveal the video chat buttons.
    • Touch the Microphone video chat button to mute or unmute your microphone.
    • Use your phone’s Volume buttons to control the volume of the speakers during your video chat.
    • Touch the Text video chat button to switch to text chatting: you can chat by voice at the same time but video is paused.
  2. When you’re done with the video chat, touch the X button.
Accept an invitation to chat by video

If you have the Allow video and voice chats option checked, your friends can invite you to a video chat.​
  • Touch Accept in the invite window.
The video chat window opens.​
