If you have a droid, download the google voice app from the market, install it, and you WILL get google voice. I had to try 3 times to verify my phone number but it did work. I will be trying on my wifes eris shortly.

I already have the app but it never verifies my number. I've probably tried over 300 times. I've uninstalled it and tried again and again. That's why I decided to just wait for an invite. I keep trying day to day but it never works.

I've been waiting for voice for awhile so I just went ahead and bought it off ebay for $1.39. As soon as I get invites I'll make sure to post them here.
How did it "suddenly verify"? Did you go into the app? Thanks!
I've had the app installed for some time, and am trying it right now. Keeps saying the phone number could not be verified, and to please try again. I'll try it a few more times like Bob Dammit did a few posts prior. I'll come back and repost if it works...

Having the app isn't enough. Its just an app for people that actually have a google voice account. Once you have an account your number will be verified. That's why everyone wants an invite. If it were as easy as downloading the app then everyone would have it, don't you agree?
I never got an invite. I don't know if it's because I got a wave invite, but no mention of GV. I have the app installed and it also could not verify my phone but I kept trying then last weekend it verified my number and it's working. Can't explain it but it's actually working.
Im kinda confused with the whole google voice thing, ok I am on waitig list for an invite to, but Im not even sure what it is lol Is it free? If not what does it cost? What are the benefits of it?I was just assuming free calls.. but then heard someone say you paid per min so I dont know.. lol thanks
