Google Voice

I could use a google voice invite. I know everyone is begging for one so I will continue to check if someone posts availability here by PM.
If you have one and PM it to me I promise I will be sure to pay it forward.

You apply for Google Voice from your gmail page, and wait until they send you invites. Takes a few weeks from what I am hearing now.

I think it's worth it. I only have a 500 txt plan and use GV for all my texting. Also good that you can have all your calls go to your GV voicemail system regardless of what number they dial. No need to check multiple voicemail accounts. There a bunch of other features like getting voicemail translated to text and sent to your gmail account. They just recently added the ability to use your existing number for your GV account, but you lose the ability to screen and record calls. If you do get an invite, I would create a NEW number so that you get all the available features. There are a bunch more to learn about.
 
More specifically, if you sign up for Google Voice with your existing number, you'll get:

  • Online, searchable voicemail
  • Free automated voicemail transcription
  • Custom voicemail greetings for different callers
  • Email and SMS notifications
  • Low-priced international calling
If you decide to also get a new Google number, you'll get all of the above PLUS:

  • One number that reaches you on all your phones
  • SMS via email
  • Call screening
  • Listen In
  • Call recording
  • Conference calling
  • Call blocking

As soon as I get the email notification they're all gone. Nice! At least this tells me the app is worth looking into. If anyone has a spare please email me at asosa100@gmail.com I'll be glad to pay it forward once I hear from google. :)
 
I am very interested in getting a GV invite. If anyone has an extra that would be awesome :)

I have signed up on the website, but it seems there is a long wait.

If I get one from someone, I will be more than happy to give mine if google ever sends me one :)
 
FYI, I did like a few other people suggested and went over to Ebay. paid $1.50 and got my invite and Google voice setup in 10 minutes. super easy. and fast. You end up paying for some other apps from the market, so $1.50 wasnt really a big deal. I had been waiting for 3 weeks now and still no invite from google. Now i'm all set.
 
I have a question. I've had my GV number for a little less than a week. It says on the website that you can invite others and that the invite(s) will be in the lower left hand side. Well, there's nothing there. Do you have to earn invites or something?
