Got the phone at 11AM, scratched screen by 4PM. Dissapointed

Sorry to hear that, had my phone for two days with no protection and no problems, put on a protector from www.clarivue.com fantastic protectors, also same one on my Rezound, my last Gorilla glass HTC Incredible was always naked and never had any scratches, still looks like new, my nephew is sporting it. You probably had a sand crystal rub against it, only thing that will scratch reinforced glass is sand "glass is made from sand" and diamonds. Good luck.

Sand and diamonds are NOT the only things that will scratch glass. Anything with a Moh's hardness of 5-5.5 or greater will scratch it. Certain carbonized steels, and quite a few other sedimentary minerals will also scratch it.

Keys are typical brass or nickel coated brass which is a hardness of about 3-4. Regular steel is about 4-5. Carbonized steels like stainless steel are anywhere between 5-6. So it may or may not scratch depending on the carbon content of the steel. And the amount of quartz in the screen which is used to make it "harder".

Good to know. Missed that part in chemistry class.

Wonder how much it'd run to have a smartphone with a sapphire screen instead. Probably madly expensive for mass production, but virtually impossible to scratch. They're a 9 on moh's hardness scale.

Breakfast beats worrying.

That's why fine watches use sapphire screens.

Great news! BB was very good about it and gave me a new one without too much hassle :)

First thing I did was put the zagg hd on it. Can't tell it is there if I'm not looking for it.

As far as I could tell there was nothing else in my pocket :/ must have been a rogue piece of sand or something though... that will teach me to wash my work pants with my ACU pants I guess.

That's what I heard but they said the hd version is different more clear and feels like glass not the rubber feel like the regular zagg

Have used Zagg for years, no more, use www.clarivue.com from now on, you can only buy them direct, they are fantastic and easy to put on, and highly scratch resistant, two come in the pack with a lifetime warranty, and they are crystal clear.

No it's not a a wet application. It's the static cling type, now this is what I do before installing, go to the bathroom turn on the showers hot water let it run with a closed door, the steam reduces microscopic particles floating in the air, but if you do get lint underneath just do this and it works like a charm. Wash your hands first. Get the sponge you wash the dishes with and use jet dry dishwashing liquid, it leaves no hard water residue, place film on your palm top bottom side the side that will go on the screen and wash it with the sponge with jet dry liquid, rinse well, now place on phone and lining it up, once lined up and set, use a card to squeegee all the excess water from beneath the protector " make sure phone is off while doing this", have done this many times and it works like a charm with no bubbles ever, the reason you get bubbles that never go away is because of that fine lint that traps itself below the protector. You can also do this with the Zagg, make sure the top of the screen is moist while using the squeegee. And your hands are washed with soap,

Hey thanks so much for the tip i appreciate it

The hd feels like smooth plastic... not quite glass, but so much smoother than the original zagg. The best part is that I can't tell the difference between the original screen clarity and with the protector on. With the original zag I noticed a little bit of distortion.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I really appreciate it. With the scratches gone I once again love this phone.
