Ok, i managed to figure out that the only difference between the D3 and the D2 is the chipset, but when i hook up the D2 and hit "Get" under SW the box turns red, not green and it gets an error when i press REDLEM. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, anyone got any ideas?
Well im happy to report that the hack worked on my D3. But my problem has become the inability to use tethering at its full potential. A device can connect and use the internet. But after about 10 - 20 min a notification will show saying 3g data connection lost. And then repeat doing that every min or less. I tried a complete reset and the problem continued. I need help this is frustrating. Im just surprised this hasn't happened to anyone else.

This does seem to be true, i made it 20 mins and then got it. It seems to me it is forcefully disconnecting. Either the phone is booting it, or the network is (my guess would be network side).
I no longer would recommend this mod. Wait for root.
Sounds like you seeing the same thing, except you get popped right off the bat. Where are you located? Im in PA, i only ask becuase i wonder if its a variation in the way the networks are configged.
Coming from an IT/Networking background, this hack seemed to good to be true to me.
Im thinking they have a way of detecting this work around and simply De auth you once you fire up the hotspot app and connect.
I grabbed a D3 in the Bay Area of California and tried this hack. It worked flawlessly though I wasn't able to test it for more than a few minutes at a time. That phone was defective, though, and I swapped it for a new one. I had to wait until I was back home in Hawaii to try this on it...
No go. It did the 3G on/off thing when a device was connected to it. I double checked the changes, switched from Global to CDMA and back, and generally poked at it but nothing worked.
I got adventurous and did a factory reset. That did the trick. It did NOT overwrite these changes and the hotspot worked for 15 or 20 minutes before the data connection was dropped. I only tried it once as I was out and needed to get home: no cell service here at the house.
But... 15 minutes is enough for me. I only use it for emergency tablet access when on the road - which isn't that often.
Does anyone get flawless, unlimited hotspot action out of this? I'm really curious what the variables are.
Will someone please post the orginal nuber on 8041 42 and 43.
I forgot to back it up, I wanna change it back and see if I get the verizon redirect, at least then I know that the hack caused the problem and not my d3

I had a few theories to the cause of this issue.
1) heat. Phones get hot from using data constantly. Radio reaches a temperature that the phone recognizes that then shuts it off. Thus the constant drops after 10 or 20 min.
2) the tethering program itself is flawed. (My hopes is that this is a problem for users who pay as well, maybe the next update will fix this problem)
3) what was mentioned before that its an authorization problem.
4) as far as networking I don't see that as the issue. Im in VA and this just doesn't, ake sense.
I do recommend waiting for root. It seems to be the only thing that can ever truely utilize the capacities of our little friends.
Though as impatient as I am for something like this. Considering I have no internet available where I live. And paying 30 monies for 2 worthless gigs seems like a great way for verizon to afford their 4g tower upgrades, I assume when they ready those services they would do most of it all at once.
