Handcent SMS

Anyone using this App having issues with it lately?

I am...here's my dilema...

It's been stuck downloading for a week. I cancel the download but it f/c. Then goes back into downloading. I cancel d/l again and it f/c again. Again...goes back to downloading.

Then I just tried to uninstall it and reinstall it from the market...says it's d/l so now i can't reinstall cause I'm still d/l it??? I REALLY love Handcent. Anyone know how to fix this? I can't figure it out and I want it back on my phone.

edit: and I did a reboot and still nothing.

I was having a similar problem with a different app..

Are you using a custom ROM?

What I did to resolve this was a full wipe of the system data and cache partitions..

might be a a more easy way.. but i dont know

Yeah rooted...Sapphire. A full wipe huh? Oh well, can't do that. Will have to have my bestie do it cause she knows how. I tried and did something wrong and phone kept shutting off and on and off and on. She fixed it for me lol. Guess I'll be without Handcent forever lol.

Hey sooooo I really absolutely love my new Droid 2!
what i love the most about it is the stock messaging app. it looks so freaking cool. buuuuut i really love the functionality of handcent (and hate how it looks). is there a theme or skin or whatever for handcent SMS that makes it look exactly like the stock messaging app?

On my phone the stock messaging is just a black background and seeing as how handcent allows you to use images from your gallery as a background I guess you could just take a black picture and set that as the background although I don't know why you would choose that over your own picture but, to each his own I guess

My hancent came black. I only have one problem with handcent. . . It went from using like 3-6 percent and then went up to 10% so I deleted all my messages and it went down to 9%


Arr you talking about the way the app looks or the actual text messaging" inside" the app.

Like the way the app itself looks on yoour hoomescreen?

Handcent is 100% customizable, it can easily be made to mirror the stock messaging application

Exactly I wish I was rooted so I could take a screenshot and show how intricate I have gotten with my customization but I can't lol. Go into settings and then custom style and play around. You may decide you want something more interesting then the black background but if not you can do that too. I also recommend looking into the downloadable fonts. That's been my fave feature so far.

I love the fact that I can use a different tone per contact, icon, notification setting and you can even use a different background image, per contact.

Ya exactly. I go back and forth using different background images, colors, and fonts, to custombtheme mine from like horror to video games and stuff like that. Look at me I'm gushing lol.

Same problem after Android update

I have the same problem, have tried everything, phone on/off, cleared cache, force stop on market etc - no luck. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Clear the cache and data in the market app (tap menu, tap settings, tap applications, tap all, tap market)

DROID X running Liberty 1.5

I had handcent SMS, and i was trying to install the update. It got to 44% then paused. I canceled and retried several times, clear the cache on the market. Finally i ended up uninstalling the original handcent and trying again. Still freezes at 44%

I am running Liberty 1.5.

I have tried to download other apps, and I can. I downloaded a free app just now, and this morning I bought an app and it install fine.

Also I am having problems with LauncherPro Icons and Docks. It is stuck on authorizing purchase.

This has been an issue for about 2 hours.

Any suggestions?

Well. I restored handcent from titanium, so at least I can use the old one.

However, i tried to download the apk from handcent.com and it also stalls at 44% the exact same place the one from the market stalls at! WTF!
